Well 19" would fall under the "seldom see track time" use. If I were actually committed to the track (or autox, since we don't have a track), I'd just stick with Mach V Awesome 17x9. They're light, wide and fit without question.

Tiny brakes aren't an immediate concern of mine since, again, we don't have a track, just tiny autox courses.

And I'm curious to know what size sidewalls aren't considered puny? Seems like sticking with 40/45 is preferred, but I don't see anything wrong with 35 sidewall. More cabin noise sure. 45 sidewall on 18" wheels is just too meaty. I would've just stuck with the WRX if I wanted that much carnivorous deliciousness.

I think CJ misunderstood when I said, "LOOKS more racer." It was a relative term of comparing them to 20". I wasn't saying that 19" looks more like a racer wheel compared to ACTUAL racer wheels.

It's fine. One thing I appreciate about CJ is his pitbull attitude. It serves us well.

I'm a little too nice in person..

I still think giant wheels and tiny stock (sliding caliper) brakes scream ricer.

I should know.. (those are just 16s, btw)

Okay, fine. How about this. I swear I will not get 19" wheels until AFTER I've upgraded to BBK's. Is that fair enough?

You can't call me out and then tell me to get what I want!

Fffffuuuuuuuu I'm just gonna get the STI replica wheels. 18x8 +40 is hawt. Easier to get tires, too.

BOOM! Decided.

OE: Pics of TRD "wing".

Good choice, solid size, easy tire choices. If Myles had sold me his BBS wheels in November...I'd be riding on 18" too.

It's the standard JDM TRD duckbill "spoiler" sorry.

Charge to the card was $356 (no foreign currency transaction fee). Much better price than the vendors on FT86Club, though delivery is "35-45 days" rather than the week it would take to get from California. Not worth an extra $50-100 (or $300 in the case of BP Auto) to get it sooner.

I like the shape, just not how 'stuck on' it looks.

That was my misgiving with it, but it should look better on WRB. Worst case scenario, I pay a lot of money to have it molded onto the trunk lid.

Is the TRD one more pronounced than the Five:Axis duck bill?

Thanks for sharing, by the way. I like it. I have a Limited, so it's going to be a PITA to acquire another trunk lip or wing.

On another note:

I have a Limited as well. The TRD spoiler is confirmed to cover the holes from the Limited spoiler. Thus far the only spoilers I know of that do so are the CARSMO and the TRD spoilers.

It is more shaped the 5AD thing; that's more of a trunk lip than anything else. Saw on in person at a meet recently and finally decided I didn't like it after making that initial decision from pictures.

I heart Japanparts. I'll be ordering the STI tS side skirts (not for me, obviously) and STI gurney flap from there shortly. Also the blue engine cover and STI gloves.

This potential road trip has me tweaking my list a little bit. Need to prioritize a new head unit sooner than later. Pioneer AVH-P8400BT is getting bumped up. Also seriously considering the OEM Audio Plus for the FR-S to get a hideaway trunk subwoofer. Any ideas on that? The only other ones I've seen are JL Audio's and Subaru's Kicker one that was supposed to be out last year. I'm not a huge audiophile, just want decent sound over stock.

My MB Quart components came in the other day! I have a Carver amp in mint condition, but I'm not sure if it'll be adequate.

OEM Audio+ kit is $1099.... so that's up to you.

I knew the price. I guess I was just wondering what other people had been eyeballing. The JL Audio is a shallow 10" sub made for the box and looks pretty legit. Less than $1k apparently.

I'd check if the OEM Audio+ thing is compatible with aftermarket headunits, because it's designed for that. Not really an audio/electric guru.

I emailed them the other day and still haven't got a response. I always have to research when to call companies since Alaska is 1 to 4 hours behind the Lower 48. I'll call now since these guys are in California.

Just talked to a super, super cool guy at OEM Audio Plus. He's going to look into the compatibility of the Pioneer AVH-P8400BH head unit. Pretty excited! I like that their system is built with the purpose of keeping it lightweight and balanced. I might go full rice and get the box paint-matched.

Just got confirmation that their unit WILL work with the AVH units. Neato!

I'm gonna have the box painted WRB just to piss OE off. Mo rice.
