Getting my car cleaned up and it's warm outside... Oh well. At least clay bar will take off any grime collected in the past 5 months.
Windshield is getting 40% tint. I just ordered the auto-dimming mirror off eBay, so I should be good to go for not getting blinded so often. Having a low-riding car in the land of bro trucks is no bueno. I just got approved for my vacation time for my road trip! May 6th to the 16th. I'm most likely going to leave Alaska on May 4th, a Saturday, early in the morning. My goal will be to make it to British Columbia by late Saturday night. Then I would love to get through BC by Sunday night. That would put me in Washington by late Sunday or early Monday. Somewhere in that time I need to make sure I wash me balls. None of this will matter if I can't get my passports, though. I'll turn in the app tomorrow if I can get my picture from the post office. Hopefully all will be smooth. |

Dimming mirror helps...but still can't prevent everything and everyone from looking like they got their brights on.

﴾͡๏̯͡๏﴿ O'RLY? I had it in my WRX, so you shut your mouth.
Seriously, though, I found it to be very effective and I miss having it. No clue why I didn't pre-order it. Apparently $88 gas lid sticker was more of a priority. ![]() |

I told you to order it but you said no at the time. Hence the reason you have no autodimming mirror.

I wasn't trolling. You mistook the tone of my post. Guess I shouldn't be surprised... Not the first time you've done that this week.
![]() I was just recalling the memory of standing there in the sales office filling out your BRZ allocation order with Steve. I wanted you to order the car with the same accessories that I ordered mine with... Which you did except the mirror. Guess you don't know my sarcasm as well as I thought you did! |

And it's not like I forgot the situation that lead up to the decision of accessories. I was jesting about not getting it. Your comment didn't contribute anything humorous or insightful, which is where I took issue. Same thought process for your other comments this past week applies. You can default towards being offended or follow your own words. ;-) <=== emoticon usage maximized!!! |

They didn't have time to tint my window or do my lip clear bra yesterday.
I rescheduled Thursday, though, should take half the day. They got some dealership cars in that took up their day. Since I'm a cool guy and repeat customer I didn't mind being pushed back. KIND of missed having my car available to me during the day, but oh well. |

I applied for my passport book and card last night. $181 later... I didn't bother expediting. 2-3 weeks versus 4-6 weeks, save $50.
Looking over my finances, I'm thinking the wiser course of action would be to not buy new wheels or any big parts until after the trip. I guess that's fine. Stock wheels will be more efficient or gas mileage. My priority parts are the underpanel to help with airflow and maybe the gurney flap. I also would like to purchase a set of the McGard spline drive lug nuts. STI driving gloves might not be a bad investment either. Anything else you guys can think of that would make the trip more comfortable and enjoyable? I have to remember to bring some tire filler in case I get a puncture, and maybe I'll haul the jack, too. |

you need lug nuts for a trip
if you're lucky you'll find the subaru mcguard limited edition spline driven lugs does the underpanel REALLY make a difference? |

I've read that it does. I figure with so much highway driving and rising gas prices during the summer that it wouldn't hurt.
I only want spline drives to ensure a tight fit for so many miles driven. I plan on an oil change, obviously, and probably gonna pump some Extra S into this baby. You cray. |

Put a sock in it boys. I already said that I didn't mean to come off as a bitch when I posted that comment.
![]() Anyway as far as the Alcan goes.. Take Torco. Many gas stations along the way don't offer premium gasoline.. And the 87 that they do have sucks. Also be aware that some gas stations still don't have CC at the pump.. So after dark there's no way to get gas. It's not really a problem unless you take Hwy 37... As awesome as that Hwy is.. There's only three gas stations along the way and they close at 9pm. The gas stations at the very beginning and very end both have CC machines so I'd fill up there if you plan on taking Hwy 37. If you want my extra copy of my road guide I'd be willing to loan it to you. Extra oil and coolant don't hurt either. I'd carry a spare jack too like you said. I'd also carry some extra cash in case your cards get blocked.. It does happen even if you talk to your banks. As far as places to stay.. There are two hostels I know of.. One in Whitehorse and one in Prince George.. $10.00 gets you a warm bed and a shower.. So it's a pretty damn good deal. |

My bad, Kaitlin. Didn't mean to start nothin'. I just felt like being aggressive. I blame bad association with Jive and Orbital.
And thanks for the tips! I'm saving them for sure! My mom wants to hangout in Whitehorse for a bit (the family up here is going down 1 day before me), but I honestly do NOT want to chill in Canada unless someone on NASIOC or FT86Club wants to meet up in Canada. Get in, get out. A lot of the stuff you mentioned I learned the hard way back in 2009. We were all stinky and when we came across a place with food and shower for cheap, we totally jumped on that deal! So fresh! We eventually came up with a rule of switching drivers every 200 miles and never letting the tank fall below half-empty. ![]() Last edited by chanomatik; 02-20-2013 at 02:10 PM. |

So to lessen the chance of messing up anything nice, I've decided to stick with the stock wheels and tires for this road trip.
