Thanks Kaitlin! I actually came across that site about a month ago and made sure to utilize it once I have a camera of my own! Hopefully today's the day. I'll be broke, but I'll have beautiful pictures to keep me warm until I get paid again next Friday. hahaha

And I've been meaning to tell you that I don't add co-workers or Subaru buddies on FB. The most I'll do is the Modifieds group we're both in. After years of hearing about FB drama from you and other people, I've decided my decision to be the safest route. Plus, I don't like co-workers gauging how much time I "waste", even if I do get my work done AND other people's warehouse jobs done. >_>

Although I'll be honest in admitting that within a few hours of being on FB, I started drama by announcing a relationship status and, unrelated to me, some friends un-friended each other because of a post concerning homosexuals. So I guess drama is gonna happen anyways, and I almost deleted my account because of it, but then I decided I liked staying in touch with my nieces, nephews and cousins from out-of-state, plus sharing pics with my friends that I'm always trying to make time for anyways.

Subaru people get my pics and time on Flickr, NASIOC, FT86Club, i-club, meets and cruises. FB doesn't need to be that medium.

You really should be fighting smaller causes during your 30-minute lunches.

Hey, OE. Any desire to ever swap the LSD to something more competitive?

I hope you freeze a testicle off in that wasteland of a state you live in.

None what-so-ever. Money well spent if competing, depending on your LSD choice, but I'm not competing yet. Still thinking about a 4.5x pinion swap though.

You know what swings my nuts the wrong way? When Alaskan weather swings the wrong way. Right now it's sunny and warm. Everything is melting. Yet, apparently there's a storm coming with a high-probability of snowfall. Seriously? SERIOUSLY?! I'm so sick of looking at my dirt-caked BRZ. But I know the SECOND I go wash it it'll be covered in mud. All of my routes home have slanted roads that have runoff into the streets where people kick up mud and drench my low-rider. I hate this state with seven passions of the seven seas.

Please elaborate on this "pinion swap"...

I finally made it to my own thread with my updated pics! I took a little time this morning to watch a basic digital photography video and practice some settings on my Nikon D5000. I couldn't figure out how to turn the flash back on...

I feel like these are a little bit underexposed... Unless that was your intention. Or it could be my phone.

They are. I'm still trying to learn lighting without flash. I honestly hate flash. I also hate post-processing. I've only had the camera two days! Gimme a break! haha Nah, I appreciate the feedback, though I think for you it would be more constructive to do it on Flickr to an individual picture if you're actually wanting to help me learn. Thanks!

I know! Unfortunately I got this road trip coming up in less than 4 weeks that I'm saving money for. Once I get back I plan on getting the ASGA Spirit STI-replica wheels and some aero bits. I would love to have the whole STI kit by late July or mid-August.

I plan on going full GT-86 by next winter.

If you have a flash that can be aimed, point it up. That'll bounce the light around instead of blasting the subject directly. For non-moving flashes, you can hold a tissue or hanky over it to diffuse the light. Old Indian trick righ thurr.

And I hear you about the weather! We get like 51 weeks of sun down here but as soon as I wash my car, it rains!

Big baller lost $50 gambling before he decided that the casino sucked. Then went back to my room, laid in bed, and had a cigar. Buddy I brought with me turned on some music and we had gin & tonic while laying in bed smoking cigars for 1-2 hours.

All that said, there's no way I'm changing the final drive. 75-80 on the highway I was spinning ~3.5K. That particular final drive pushes it up to 4K. The road noise, wind noise, and exhaust noise are irritating at that speed/RPM combination. Nowhere near as bad as my WRX was, but enough to not want to do the final drive on a DD.

Ah! Good points! I don't think the flash can be aimed. It just flips open. I'll try to use it more, though, and get a better understanding.

Rain in San Diego sounds... weird.

See, I was wondering about that as I read the thread. Too much "because race car" to just have that done casually for a daily driver. Gotta be ready to commit!

Yeah a tripod will allow you to manually set the exposure to a longer setting without worrying about camera shake which will let you get a better exposure. You could also bump up the ISO or aperture to allow more light into the sensor.. But too much of that will create noise.

I almost always use a tripod.. Even with daylight shots. Damn shaky hands!

**** iso. It ruins everything. So many kids with slrs calling themmselvea photographer meanwhile have noisy pictures during the day...

I try to never go above 400iso. If amything open the aperture but on the kit lens 3.5 is the lowest you can go and its not that great. If you want a good lens on the cheap pic up a 35m 1.8...

When using a tripod and a slow shutter speed set the shutter to a 2second delay. So It snaps after you press the shutter thay way no shake from when you remove your hand from rhe button little tricks for ya!

I'm kinda over Mozart at this point. Comes with age. I still listen to Iron Flag.

I should get the plate, "MADJDM" after I go full GT-86 with this car.

Do you think I should get the Nameless exhaust the same time as the header piece later this summer? I want the whole shabang.
