Where are the pictures of the finished engine bay? I've seen it, but I'm sure others would enjoy it...

This car is begging to be painted a nice brown. Like the rootbeer brown color Subaru puts on the Outbacks.

I drove this car the other night. This thing MOVES. The 2.5L with a TS 18g makes gobs of torque and at like 3000 rpm or less. So much fun.

08+ steering wheel in 07-08 FXT

This was pretty easy to do, My instructions are for only the 07-08 forester (canbus) all other years you will need to find your own wiring way. also do at your own risk

For the Cruise control the fxt and 08+ sti are pretty much the same since they are both canbus, you just need to move some wires around, i cut the ends off and resoldered the wires so i could keep it easy to plug in at the clockspring behind the airbag

On the 08+ sti wheel plug you have 6 wires
Yellow: Cruise
Brown: Cruise
Green: Cruise
Red: 12v Illumination (for lights)
Black: Ground for lights
White: Audio signal
Blue: Audio ground

On the FXT you have 3 wires in the white plug and 1 in the green plug
I honestly thought i took pics of these before i rewired them but can't find them, so i am not sure what color the wires were, but either way you just need to know where the wires need to go so here you go. Pic you can see the 3 wired (in what place they go) using the color from the STI steering wheel controls

As you can see the wires are Green/brown/yellow in the white cruise control plug, putting them in the order shown the cruise will work. I haven't had any problems with it at all since doing it
In the Green clip you only have 1 wire coming out,
Green with red strip, this is your horn wire (12+)
I added 3 more pins to the clip and wired the wires like this
White/red - White from STI wiring
black - Black and blue from sti wiring
Red - Red from STI wiring

Under the dash all 5 pins from the green clip have wires out the bottom of the clockspring (at least on my 08 it did) when you follow the wires down to a white plug, here is what color/pin from the green clip at the wheel to the white plug under the dash
P1 - Green/red (horn) = Red
P2 - empty = Light blue
P3 - empty = Black/white stripe
P4 - empty = Green/red stripe
P5 - empty = White

Just make sure whatever wires you put in each pin you connect the same wire below

I then added pins again to the other side of the white clip (as since the wires aren't used they stop at the clip) (pic above)
Red = 12+
Black = Ground
White = Audio signal (connects to the ASWC-1)

I had a 2 pin plug behind the radio not being used, it was 12+ and ground so i ran the red and black wires to this, and that worked perfect for the lighting on the steering wheel controls

Now the white wire need to be connected to a unit that works for aftermarket radios and steering wheel controls, I used the Axxess ASWC-1, I wired it up the way it showed on there website, this unit will "auto detect" what radio you are using and program itself.

ASWC-1 Connections
1) Connect the Black wire of the ASWC-1 to chassis ground.
2) Connect the Red wire of the ASWC-1 to a 12+ accessory wire,
3) Connect the Gray/Red wire of the ASWC-1 to the white wire that is coming from the steering wheel that we just ran
4) Connect the White/Green wire of the ASWC-1 ground. (Use the same ground as the black wire from the ASWC unit).

I then picked up a set of 06-07 STI front seats for my car, and wrapped some of the interior panels with 3M carbon vinyl

Also in the spirit of wasting money on this damn car, I picked up a blue stitch GT-spec steering wheel for it, since they are only made for the 08+ sti/wrx ect. it was a perfect fit with my car running the newer airbag

Thanks to the guys a Vivid Racing for the great price on it
