Question WA state smog test

Hey guys, I just moved up here from out of state and heard that WA state requires smog testing when registering cars older than 5 years old. What does everyone around here with modded Subies do in order to "pass" smog if they know it won't pass emissions? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

No check engine light (on) and all codes are in ready mode good to go. I'm assuming its tuned for your mods. My car is tuned no cats etc and passes with no issues.

no check engine, it's tuned for the mods. I thought it would still fail smog though...

Tuning software Cobb open source etc? They don't do visual inspection unless they are in that mood just make sure you have your obd2 ready without cords in it like Cobb ap cable or whatever you have.

I have a Torqued Performance stage 2 Cobb Accessport map running on it. I'll keep that in mind, about having the OBD 2 port open. Thanks for the info.

Wait, so as long as the tech isn't a jerk who wants to do visual, I'm not throwing a CEL and my codes are clear I can pass smog?

There's no sniffer test? I just moved up here from California and getting through smog down there is pretty nasty unless you know someone.

They usually only use the sniffer on cars that pre-date OBDII.

With a MY95 + EJ207, I even pass the sniffer test without cats.

It doesn't matter if he's a jerk or not, we dont have visual inspections in washington. So yes, not throwing a code = pass.

Hey guys, sorry to bump this thread. But I just wanted to confirm that the smog law is still the same for 2013 in WA? No sniffer, and as long as no CEL or OBD2 codes, than the car should pass?

Thanks!

Or you could drive to the one of many cities that don't require smog testing. Enumclaw in the south end and up here in Arlington come to mind really quick. What you burn in gas you make up for in less stress and stiffing "the man".

Passed yesterday with no cats. Just need a tune to do it. Also WA is getting rid of emissions testing entirely by 2020 still a ways out but worth mentioning.

2009 and newer shouldn't have to as of last July (edit: depending on your county).

2009 and newer vehicles don't ever have to do emissions, unless your previous state you are coming from is requiring you do take a test for them, insurance, lease company,an military. If you don't follow an any of does category you are exempt from emissions in WA. Anyways welcome. Cheers

Is there even an Emissions Station around here with an AWD dyno? I'm pretty sure the one in Renton and the one in Auburn do not.

Didn't think so, AWD's will never have a sniffer test then, except maybe idle emissions.

But yeah, as long as there is no CEL present and all the systems have completed their self diagnostics, you will pass.
