Looking to become an STI owner and have questions...

Well first off I see that there are a few threads on this very topic and I am in the process of reading them to see if I can find some answers to my questions. I have also checked a few of the stickies.

I guess I should say that my wife would be the actual driver of the car but you know us guys have to get in and make it ours as well lol. What I am wanting to find out is what year should I be looking for in the 2009+ years? I have read to many horror stories of the recent years and this lead me here thinking I would post and see if anything has not been fixed. She wants the wagon but if we get a 2011 then it will be a sedan but either is fine for her. She comes from a long line of driving BMW so she likes zippy cars as she would say. My plans are to do to a full exhaust, intake, tune and other necessary mods to the car. I'm not looking for the 400 hp car haha (I read that thread) but I am looking to have a hella fun car without spending crazy amount of money nor suffering from reliability. This car will be her daily driver and the grocery getter.

Again I apologize for the generic questions and the lack of knowledge I have only wanted an STI for a few weeks when she said she wanted a Subaru lol. A little about me this will be my first Turbo car as I have built and owned several NA motors. My last few cars was a LT1 TA that was fully built and Fast but sold due to wanting a Mustang. I then bought a GT that had just about every bolt on and suspension work you could do. The mustang was not fast I would say but it was fun to drive. Now I have a 2012 Dodge Ram Sport CC that I have dropped 2/4, exhaust, and an intake. If we do get an STI I will be modding it so keep that in mind when you all are giving me answers.
