Default East Texas Enthusiast Meets - Lufkin, TX

I moved back to Texas late last year to finish up high school. As I graduated, I got a 2005 Saab 9-2x and immediately began to look around for a car scene in the Lufkin area.

There was none.

So after a few weeks of looking and talking to the few people I knew with "nice" cars, I decided to make my own group, a group meant for people of all sorts of enthusiast levels: rich with multiple super cars, average joe with his car, or poor schmuck in high school who can barely afford an EM1 or CRX.

It was slow at first, and my first meet only got like 5 or 6 cars. But I kept with it and, a month later, had over 10 people show up for the second meet. Now I have a group with 34 members in it with people interested in meets, cruises, gatherings and just talking **** on Facebook.

With all this said, I'm still on the lookout for more people. I'm trying to get a car scene in the Lufkin area started, more than I have now. I already have a confirmed location for a car show if I can definitely get 30 or more cars there. This is my current goal. Alas, anyone who lives near or around Lufkin, or who would be interested in a nice drive out into the Pines of Texas, follow the link below and join up! Introduce yourself, make fun of the idiot posting in forums for people, whatever floats your boat.

Hope to see you all at TX2k13/IFO!

Well the first meet is already set and confirmed for Nov. 1st at Buffalo Wild Wings Lufkin. If I can get a solid attendance and turnout, and people willing to make it into more of a weekly meet, I would love to have 1 week in Nac, 1 week in Lufkin, and keep it going.

You can find the group at facebook.com/groups/easttexasenthusiastmeets

Just trying to get something going local, even if it is only once a month.

I know that feel. I pulled up to a car show yesterday that had a whole damn page in the paper advertising it with exactly 7 cars at it. I went up to the guy who was running it and asked if I was allowed. I was told no, that it was for muscle cars of the past and present. Which is funny, because there was a truck over there. Also, when I was about to leave, he said, "Hey, I know that guy." who was pulling up in a Skylark, poor little V6. He didn't like that Saab was owned by GM that year. I was clearly not the slowest car in the lot, either.

Sigh. I can't wait to see if these meets grab on in the area. There's enough cars around that, if people show up, I know it can work.

Rebumping this. The first meet is this Thursday guys! The interest I'm getting is varied but, if everyone who has verbally promised shows up, I'll have like 15 cars including a M3, M5, some 750whp Porsche, the guy with the supercars in Pollok.. It would be nice to see a few Subarus here!

BWW has promised anyone who brings a car 15% off their meal for the night, and has promised to keep this up for any additional meets. This is a great opportunity as they love the idea of this trying, understand it may start slow, and are willing to watch it grow and would love to keep us, as far as offering a weekly sanctioned event through them.

The more the merrier!

Bumpin' this ****!

The first meet a month ago went pretty good for a first meet in the area. Had a M5, RSX, myself (Saabaru), EvoX, Srt4 Neon and a classic Mustang show up. Ended up cruising for a bit with the SRT and the Mustang.

The next meet is THIS FRIDAY starting at 6 at Buffalo Wild Wings again. I'm expecting a much better turnout this time with pretty much everyone before in addition to an SVT Focus, a few Hondas, a Tiburon, a BMW 335, 2 Corvettes a GTI and quite a few others.

If there are any of you out there in the area on this forum, I'd love to see you out! I know there's one guy driving in from Livingston so someone could cruise with him?

Updated the OP. Would love to see some more people in here. I know there are a few Scoobs in the area for sure.

For anyone interested, we do have a few guys who drive in from 30 minutes away or so. There is a cruise this Wednesday and a meet this weekend at a classic car show. Next month we're looking at a possible cruise to IFO, our monthly meet, and a meet at Pine Valley Raceway for their next test and tune day.

Hope to see some interest generated from this thread! This has come a long way over the past few months and I'd love to see it to continue to grow.

Well I got him in my car group so maybe he can make it to some of the events and get properly welcomed.

A total of 4 Scoobs in now.

Got one of your cards in my car at Wendy's today. I saw the Saabaru by KMart. Did you drive all the way back around to put that card on there?

That was you?!? Nice. Yeah, I saw you and flipped on over and got a card on it. I'm serious about expanding that car group.

Were you by chance staying at those apartments one night over right off the loop a few months ago? I remember a 08+ WRX sedan there but I never saw it there again.

Not even 10 minutes later I saw a white hatch WRX driving through.

Had this guy try to race me on 59 on the way home from work yesterday. Maybe you should try to find him and his sweet ride. /sarcasm

Yes that is a NOS decal on the side.

Haha, I think they drove by one of our meets last week. Had this funny sounding vehicle just like that drive by like 20 times, getting on it every time. We were laughing the whole time.
