Default When to replace battery??

My 2005 OBS still has the original battery which I think would be 8 years old now. Should I replace it now be it fails? Winter is just around the corner!
Thanks.

Mitch

Replace it for piece of mind. You got your moneys worth - no need to take a risk and have a problem at a bad time.

I am in the same situation for my 2005 MDX. keep saying I am going to do it. It will get me one day if I don't do it soon.

go to auto zone or advance autoparts (or similar) and have them test it.
but being that old, you might as well replace it anyway.

I recently replaced the battery in my 06 (that as far as I know) was original.

Advance auto had an online code for 25% off so check their website. (I ordered the battery on my smart phone and went back into the store with the order # to get the battery installed.)

The only battery that lasted me more than 8 years was an ACDelco bought in 2000 ($60 @ Kmart, long closed). The "green eye" stopped showing after 10 years but it still worked the same, and I replaced the battery just in case a year later. Those are not being made anymore. I'd say 5-6 years is about the maximum. But do not buy anything manufactured by Exide. Both of the Exide batteries I had over time had failed in about two years. The second one was a Bosch-labeled "premium" unit from PepBoys.

Exide or Johnson Controls or East Penn Mfg. (best known under Deka and, on East Coast, CarQuest brands). My most recent battery purchase was 35-60 from CarQuest.
