Default 2003 wrx cruise control clock spring??

Another newbie here. I've tried and tried and I'm giving up my search. Just bought an 03 with aftermarket steering. I have the cruise switch off the stock steering wheel. Do I need this clock spring thing to make my cruise work? Or can I just wire it up! Pig tail underneath steering column has different number of wires than my cruise switch. If I can get it wired up, I'm confident I can fabricate a place to mount it. And... Being new to any type of forum, what the hell does "bump" mean? I'm so confused. Lol
