Sup Eric...

I know you said that the price depends on condition of car but give me a baseline. My car is nowhere near the condition of Chris' car

yeah guys you better get on this while you still have a chance. Eric did a great job on chris's car. If you think your car is smooth after waxing it yourself. Wait till you feel your car after eric details it. Its so smooth i cant explain it.

Alright baseline for a SEDAN

Just the regular wash/polish/wax and interior cleaning

$75 - $100

For the more expensive carbon waxes

$100 - $125

For glazes that's $250 - $300 and you need to leave your car with me overnight.

If you want scratch/swirl/water spot/sap stain removal that will be more expensive due to material and extra labor. lets say add another $25 or so.

Of course all this depends on the condition of the car. (Cheaper if your car is in better shape.)

Iif it's new and you just want me to remove the dealer coat then that would be cheap.

Oh and if you need me to make a house call that's more too.

I'm located in San Jose.

Eric

edit: people keep asking if i changed the price cause they don't want to read through the entire thread, so i'm changing it here.

Eric, could you quote me on filling those chips I showed you that are on the passenger side right behind the door? Let me know when would be a good time to do this.

My car needs a serious detailing job... Well, only HALF of it does, since the other half just got re-clearcoated

Where is this at btw?

i will make house calls but only within reason it will cost a bit more for house calls also. oh yeah and you need to have an indoor garage (wax won't cure over specific temps).

Whoa, someone asked me to compare my prices with other bay area detailers (so I just started calling detailers i found on yahoo yellow pages for zip code 95070). Here's what I asked:

Basic exterior detail (no engine cleaning, no leather conditioning, no carpet shampooing) for a silver 2002 wrx sedan.

The lowest quote was $150 and the highest was $325. With most people falling in the $200 range.

I asked about scratch removal and or a car in really bad condition, but they said that would be an extra $150 - $250 depending on the scratch.

DAMN

Anyway, the places that would tell me what waxes they use mainly said blue coral/meguiars/p&s

whoa people in california are getting ripped off, when i was detailing in boston we only charged $100 per mid sized car $150 for a larger car and we used better quality products.

geez

hey fanker, what products do you usually use for swirl mark removal? I've been using 3m stuff (well, only once since I've only done it once with my car). It seemed to work decently when hand applied, but it was tiring. I bought a porter-cable random orbital (7336) to help me next time though

also, for scratches deeper than just swirl marks, what do you use?

oh yeah, do you fix paint chips? I've never done it before and I don't want to mess up. if you do, what do you do if the chip is already rusting?

I've got an BRP RS that's in need of some lovin'... Couple of scratches that need to be removed, and it deserves a good cleaning. Unfortunately I don't have a garage where you could do it though... any other possible solutions?

Okay, lets see...

mchoo:
Yep I use 3M rubbing compound for swirl mark remover, and yep it sucks doing it by hand, but if you do it by hand you can heat the paint up better, so you can get deeper scratches out if you do it by hand.

If your scratches and or paint chips are rusting already...time to get a new paint job. You can paint over it if you want, but that won't last for long, especially if you live in the city by the beach.

jimhoyd:
Yes I will make a house call but you'll need to pay a bit more.

deepbeep:
If you bring it over to my house, I'll do it here in my garage. Depending on the amount of lovin it needs, she may have to stay over night Like Chris' car had to stay with me for more than 24 hours, it was in bad shape.

WRX-ellent:
pm'ed ya back

oh and just for the fun of it, i kept calling those detailers, some people are charging over $400 and they use store bought Mother's/Meguiars wax, they gave me the wax code and I went to the web site and found that it is the same as the store bought stuff. haahaa, people are paying $400 for an exterior detail when the detailer only uses about $3 worth of store bought wax, haahaa, and it probably costs them a lot less since they buy it in bulk, haahaa.

the ones using the professional stuff to give you an idea a gallon of meguiar's professional wax is $31 and if you are a business you get it even cheaper. whoa people are really getting ripped off

eric does a really great job guys! I would recommend that you all get the detail work done through him. I amnot saying this because he did my car. I am saying that so we can keep I-club money within I-club. It helps promote club growth. That and he owes me a few bux, hahahaha

gee thanks chris.

nope don't do dents and dings, i've been known to fill paint chips.

but maybe in the future i could go over to chris' place on saturdays during his weekly installs and start detailing there so everyone would know where to find me.

I'm interested! How much for a house call to S.F.? And yes I have a garage for you... Maybe we can get a few people up here so it's worth the trip for you!

I've got some pretty swirlies and some water spotting on my black wrx that need removed. I don't know, it might be beyond rubbing compound repair. Might need some wet sanding. South bay, though? Know anybody in Sacramento? Maybe I can get a ride down there from a friend or something. Would be worth it for what you charge.

Sacremento......someone non-i-club just asked me to do his bmw and corvette in folsom. it's a bit out of the way so i said no to this guy.

right now i don't do any wet sanding, i don't have shop space or the equipment to do it right now. maybe in the future, but you'd be suprised at what a little rubbing compound and a bit of elbow grease would get out.

a house call to SF, hmmmm where in SF? i wasn't planning on making house calls to the city, only as far as redwood city or so. i'm booked for the next week and a half so you've got that long a while to try to set something up.
