Default Whats holding this thing on?

there is a plastic chome colored strip on the trunk, right above the license plate. is there anything securing this thing? i want to remove it to paint it and put it back on, just want to make sure i dont brake it before moving forward. thanks..

Is this what you are looking for?

You never stated hatch or sedan, that would help. There a quite a few DIY threads around here that deal with removing that trim and painting it.

On my 2011 WRX there are two screws/bolts holding it on. You'll have to remove the trunk liner to get to them.

yea i just noticed that my bad i have an 09 sedan, and yes that is exactly what i am talking about, thank god i didnt just try to rip it off, i didnt know there were screws holding it on. for sedan i also have remove the tail lights???

Again, assuming the 09 and 11 are pretty much the same...
The only lights involved are the ones that illuminate your license plate. It'll be obvious how to unhook those. Looks like tail light removal is only necessary for the hatch.
