Default 05 WRX Radiator diagnosis help needed

gotta reply thrice to get my own thread so here it goes:

My car:

05 WRX sedan

Recent shop work:

Timing belts/water pump and all that jazz done in Nov '12

New Problem:

Coolant seems to explode out from somewhere near top. I noticed smoke one day from the engine compartment, coolant was sprayed all over the topside. No leaks dripping from underneath car. The excess coolant tank(where I fill it) is the part it empties from--where exactly? I dont know. But my car doesn't overheat at all. I try not to drive it long, but the fact that it hasn't ever overheated confuses me.

Took it to a dealer who said the radiator needs to be replaced. Sounded like they were trying to bait and switch me so now I'm looking for a possible answer here. Anyone have any input?

This is a common problem and usually happens sooner then later. The plastic end tanks separate from the radiator core over time and cause them to leak. Replace your radiator with an aluminum one and call it a day. Just do a little search and you can find plenty of threads about this happening.

I'd also check the clamp connections on the upper coolant tank. Those oem ones are crap and mine leaked and started dripping. Change those to the screw type and see if it helps.
