Thumbs down Echelon Autosports

Here's how this went ...

I was thinking about buy a lip/skirts/etc. for my WRX. I like the Chargespeed carbon stuff and Echelon seems to have it in stock. Of course, I especially liked the idea of buying from a vendor on NASIOC (help the community and all that).

In this thread (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2211385) on NASIOC, Echelon regularly updates that they're offering 10-15 pct off prices on their sites. To quote them, "Now until 5/31/12....Get discounts of 10-15% off products offered through Echelon Autosports. If you dont see it on our website then shoot us a quick email or PM with what you are looking for and we will promptly get back to you with discounted pricing."

This is the PM string I had this week with Brian from Echelon. I've only changed the order so it reads chronologically from beginning to end. I won't be buying from Echelon. Buyers beware.

Your price: $1719.99.

I click to check out. Your site tells me that from Arizona to me in Illinois at 60202 is about $21.

So total, without this PM delay, I'm $1740 to my door retail from your site. You're just about $200 already over that.

However, your thread in the Vendor For Sale section says to PM you now and customers get 10-15 pct off. So, I PM'd you. Even at the low side, 10 pct off, I'm at $1566 (that's 10 pct off).

But you have me at $1929. That's damn near a $400 spread between us. What gives?

Or, at worst it's bait and switch on your part using NASIOC as your forum to reach potential customers with 10-15 pct off fictitious pricing.

So what happens if I go to your site now and place my order? I don't get those prices? How can that be? What kind of company are you running?

Brian hasn't responded at the time of this post. If he does later, I'll add an update. But this is absolutely no way to run a business.

I'll post up what I just wrote back to you concerning this. I am not here to argue.

I have not baited and switched anyone here. Im sorry the pricing hasnt been updated but when hundreds of products need to be updated it takes time ecspecially when there is one person going through and updating one by one as well as working at the same time. Your talking as if everything on there is mislabeled and not just one brand. Im sorry that this upsets you and I apoligize. If you dont like the price then Im sorry and wish the best of luck to you in getting what you want.

Im not some huge company who can afford to pay someone to do those things for me so I must do it myself and it takes alot of time. Because I dont have something updated doesnt mean you have to dump on me for it.

I know for a fact there are plenty of websites out there that dont have up to the minute pricing updates right away as pricing changes monthly, weekly, sometimes even daily and that they will change pricing as customers come in to reflect those changes. I never lied about anything or decieved you, I never told you one thing and did another so please dont accuse me of doing so.

Hi, everybody. Hi, Brian. I'm not here to argue either. I was here to try to buy some parts for my car with prices I could count on. Not happening with you. And since you posted your response, this is mine that you have in PM. I'm done with this thread.

Again, buyers beware.

Mike

Brian,

You got in this business, this is how it goes when your listed prices on your site AND your messages to a community like NASIOC don't add up.

You still haven't answered the question of what happens if I order from your site right now. I just checked the link. The package is still listed for $1719.99. But I'm a big meany because I expect your site to list your prices correctly? Come on, man. You wouldn't take that from your suppliers. No way.

Fact is: You and your site are not trustworthy. If that's because you're overwhelmed with too much to do, sorry, get some help. Or do less and get it all done. If it's because you're deceitful, that's on you. Either way, it's not my fault as a customer to expect accurate pricing, especially when you have plenty of time to promote your discounts on multiple threads on this site.

Good luck to you and your company. You're going to need it.

Again I apoligize Mike. To answer your question if you went on the site to order it, yes it would still be $1719.99 + shipping. Id even give it to you still for $1719.99 + Shipping even it means losing some money and making it right. I know you wont take it but I'll offer anyway. Never called you a "meany" and Im damn well not deceitful.

Yeah the thing with dealing directly with the wheel companies, they don't care for the guys who order a set or two per order, they'll make them wait for a while, that's the down side to getting better pricing. So if there is a middle man involved, faster shipping would be available, but the price wouldn't be the same.

The guys who can afford the capital of having numerous sets in at a time, those guys will be the one's who will be able to ship out wheels or whatever the product is next day.

You posted this up with his notification stating that it will take a couple days to get the wheels sorted out and shipped...which is pretty normal when you have a container full of wheels come in from customs and you need to get all of them properly dispersed.

I've noticed these things on here a couple times, not saying it bad to post an experience up, but as a vendor, these are not fictional things nor are they out of the norm when someone who is a one man show is attempting to deal with larger companies like those who have a dealer network that spans the entire us.

Not taking sides, just giving input.

I understand. It would be nice to get a response within 24 hours during the week knowing that this is a legit business or at least have a phone call picked up or an ETA. I was told they were in stock last week and was expecting them to ship last week. I got no problem waiting but I don't like to be ignored, especially when I just spent $1800 on a set of wheels that I still haven't received any info about. I have disputed the charge and hope we can come to a resolution on this.

Also just called Work directly today and they have told me they do not have any record of the order being sent over for those wheels.

Edit: just received this from them:

"Good news, they are going out today, I will have a tracking number
from them either by the end of the day today or tommorrow morning
depending on when they update there system.

I saw you opened a dispute with Paypal...can you close that as it
affects our account and your wheel order has already gone through so
the funds are gone from us."

I'm honestly offended that I had to open a case with paypal and now they are asking me to close the case without even making the situation right. If the email had a tracking number provided which was valid I would have closed the case but to ask me to close a case without actually resolving the situation worries me. I will not be ordering from these guys again.

10/2 Edit:
Wheels did finally arrive and everything was sorted out. Apparently they've had issues with their phone system which is why no one answered and they were waiting on Work for the wheels to come in. Was I happy with the experience? Honestly it could have been worse and they did the best they can to resolve it. Would I order from them again? I'm willing to give them another chance.

Holy dead thread, Batman.

Just a reminder: Echelon sucks.

Why? I just checked their prices on this kit again, the prices that were in the process of being updated way back in June?

Yep, you guessed it. Nothing's changed. Still listed at $1719, right here: http://www.echelonautosports.com/cat...duct_info.html

Jack asses.
