Default Wheel***12288;spacers on one end only?

I want to say that i have been trying to find information on this in the forum and cant find anything specifically related to this. so, at the risk of sounding like a moron... i have a very simple question. can you run wheel spacers on one end only? specifically the rear end? will this some how destroy the transfer cases or anything like that on a 2002 WRX***12288;5 speed?

I'm in Japan, and believe it or not good wheels in decent shape are hard to come by at a good price. I just got a set of work wheels dirt cheap, they I put on, but just like the stockers they are like 3 inches inside the fender in the rear! I've always notice this on every WRX I've had, and I hate it!!! since I can't take car back to the states with me, I'm not going to dump a ton of money on expensive wheels. I don't own a Subaru in the states anymore so it just doesn't make sense to me! I want a more aggressive stance without breaking my pockets!

No problem, but those of us into performance like a small spacer up front to help kill a little understeer. Wider track gives the front end more leverage. Bad SAI is the down side to this.

In your case, just buy some thick 20/25mm spacers that bolt to the hub and have studs for your wheels.

As a general rule: Spacers do not effect diffs.

Thats good stuff, I think that i will run a 20mm studded spacer in the rear and a 5 or 8 mm in the front per your advice! Its really hard to go over 60 MPH in this part of japan so i'm not too concerned with performance, and i def dont have a track i can take it, legally at least!

But thanks for all the good info to all of you!

You misunderstood, you want the front wider than the rear.

Spacing the rear out further than the front adds to the already horrible amount of under steer.

This. Until I did my fender work I ran +!1 fronts and +30 rear for a good few hundred miles and the daily driving characteristics were nice in terms of steering and how the car tracked well. Plus the fronts are more sunk on GD bodies anyway I run 9 +11 front and 9 +13 rear

So, to make sure i understand what you are saying, I SHOULD be ok as far as a daily driver's handeling goes with 20mm spacers in the rear and 5mm in the front?

it'll track like crap, and understeer like crazy.

wider in the front, not the rear. And honestly...why not just square them up?

however, you haven't even mentioned the wheels specs. that would help a lot.

I do not know the offset, but they are Work CE28's 18X7.5, and would love to square them up but like i said, the space between the same exact size wheel and the edge of the fenders is alot bigger in the rear than in the front. as i mentioned before i've always noticed that in i hate it!

where did you get the CE28?

i live on Okinawa by the way and yes we do legally have a place to drive the piss out of our cars.

the bullring! Nago circuit is also a place where they do autoX and drags...

if you daily drive then yes you probably fine with it. but i have seen hubs go bad before here on Okinawa. with these cars being 10+ yrs old.. putting spacers up front with stock rims would not be good.

Legally according to whom? one of the very first briefs we get when we come to okinawa, before you can even Get your SOFA license is that members on SOFA status cannot participate or even attend any type of off base car racing sactioned or not... that's part of General Order #1 along with curfews if I'm not mistaken.
