I'm trying to complete my swap and need some help.
Car is a 2003 WRX with a JDM V9 Motor swap. I've got the IAP wiring harness installed (integrates AVCS). New battery New Starter New NPS Lights turn on, fuel pump Battery gets 12v. Starter gets 12v. Grounds get 12v. TIA.

What ECU are you using. The version 9 has an Immobilizer.
For twin scroll motors: Version 8, Version 8 Spec C, Version 9 Spec C ecu's do not use an Immobilizer. |

Stupid question. Do you have the coil packs plugged in correctly. White plugs on cylinders 1 and 2, black plugs on cylinders 3 and 4.
If swapped or wrong order car will not start most of the time. |

Haha yes, No stupid questions. Everything is accepted.
Battery is good. Terminals are good. Starter is good. Grounds are good. |

I did not. I was under the impression it didn't have to change. Plus I'm using a JDM V8 ecu, and the NPS is brand new too.

There's a clutch switch in addition to the NPS. As usual, if you don't step on the clutch, it does not crank. Maybe it's defective.
I'll check this morning if the fuel pump primes, if you put the key to on without stepping on the clutch. |

My fuel pump primes when I turn the key on without trying to crank it.

Ok, so check this out:
My car primes without stepping on the clutch, but certainly does not crank. This means that with a bad clutch switch, your car could in theory, prime the pump, but not release cranking. I would try to bypass the clutch switch, just as part of process of ellimination, to get it out of the way. |

I haven't tried with this new starter but on my first two starters I bypassed it straight on the starter. Both of those sounded like they spun but did not push foward to contact the flywheel.

i believe that the switch is opposite on a v9. The v8 ecu would not make a difference as i think its the polarity is different. The pump will turn on and prime even with a damaged ECU but you checked your ecu by putting in your old USDM flashed ecu with the same issue so the problem is something else.
My moneys on the switch. |

What's the back story on the car? Was it running before you swapped it? Or did you get the car not running to perform the swap?
What did you do to the wiring harness for the acvs? Only 1 IAP harness, or both. Fuel lines are in correct order? All 4 Coil pack pig tail harness are in the correct order. White in front, black in the rear. Car gets spark.? Timing belt is correct? Does the car even turn over. Facts. 03 wrx Swapped in a known good 03 wrx 5 speed Version 9 ej207 Version 7 ecu. IAP harness. New NSS New starter New battery Clutch switch is good Turn key, lights and dash power up, fuel pump primes. No start. No start on jdm ver 7 ecu No start on stock usdm wrx ecu Are we missing something about the car or the swap? I figured it would be easier for others to read it if all the info is in one post. I bought the car as a shell. No motor, no drivetrain. 05 STi harness ECU DBW pedal assembly, ect..
I swapped 03 WRX harness, ECU DBC pedal assembly ect... Coil Packs are correct. Fuel Lines are correct (I think) I don't think it's getting spark "yet" (beause it's not cranking at all) Timing belt is correct and lines up perfectly. What do you mean by "Turn over"? Everything seems to be working till I try to turn the car on. Everything else is correct. |

Cranking, turning over same thing.
So you turn key. Nothing happens, starter does not make a sound even though its new and gets 12v. |
