Default Plasma dip

Has anyone ever done any plasti dip work on the plasma blue wrx/sti? With it being such a dark color I'm not sure how it will look and I can't seem to find any pictures of it.

Start looking through here I have seen a handful of plasma blue cars with different color combos. People can do photoshop work to if you want some ideas in the members gallery thread. Good luck.

Not sure I understand what you mean about how it will look? It doesnt matter what color your base car is, it will look like whatever color dip you choose. The only time you have to do anything special is when shooting white, yellow, fluorescents, or other light colors over a dark vehicle. In those cases you do two coats of gunmetal gray dip first.

Your best resource is dipyourcar.com. In the forums they have a thread called color library and you can view all the dip colors people have sprayed.

I meant what colors would look good for accent colors not so much dipping the whole car, although I want to do that eventually. Thanks for the advice though!

In my opinion, if you're using plastidip or paint for "accent pieces" and you're using any color but black, it's ricey.

Well I didn't do anything major, just plastidipped the stock rims gold... I like it personally, looks better in person and gets a lot of compliments.

Yeah I've seen the gold have a greenish hue on other cars.

I bought the wheel package from Dip-your-car, which comes with 4 cans of regular dip in your choice of color (WAYYY too much) and 3 cans of metallizer (almost not enough).

I did about 3 coats of black on each wheel (about 1.5 cans), then I let them sit overnight+ to cure completely. Then I did 4ish coats (somehow all 3 cans) of the gold metallizer dip. The result was a very metallic gold with flake that can still come across as slightly green in pics, but looks very gold in person.

Is that just the matte vintage gold for the base coat?

Nope, base coat was just regular black plastidip. The gold over the base is the Gold Metalizer.

I didn't use the "True Metallic Wheel Kit", I used the "Metal Flake Wheel Kit": https://www.dipyourcar.com/product.p...&cat=10&page=1

...or just buy 2-3 cans of black and 3-4 cans of gold metallizer.

300 + 20 per wheel because there were tires on them.
