the header looks great. I'm very interested to see where there are power gains in the FB20 motor.

I'll try to get something posted when I have the time. Any sound clip I took wouldn't be an accurate example of the final product, as I'm just in the testing phase and things will change with further development. But trust me, it sounds good I must admit though, I do feel like a poser driving a car that sounds like a wrx, but with half the balls

Here's one thing that helped (sound wise); the factory mid pipe is an impressive 2.4" going into the factory resonator, but it instantly tappers down to a less exciting 1.9" post-resonator. By simply replacing the post resonator section with a more appropriate 2.25" piping (in conjunction with the 2.25" axle back already installed), that alone made a noticeable difference. Here's a side by side of the factory section and the 2.25" section (cobbled together with spare pieces) for comparison purposes:

As I stated earlier, the prototype header I've been running thus far was mainly to test the effects of running a HFC on a PZEV (cel wise). Good news is: 700 miles later (in cold MN weather) and no cel! My original thinking was that if you even so much looked at a PZEV sideways, it would throw a cel. I'm happy to report that I couldn't have been more wrong. My little theory is that since Subaru is mandated by the government to warranty the emission equipment for up to 15 years, they didn't want to make the ecu overly sensitive and have to deal with a potential warranty nightmare years down the line. Again, just a stupid theory I pulled out of the air. Now I'm curious as to exactly how far I can push it before throwing a cel...
My next prototype will be the same design but with longer primaries/shorter collector and a metallic substrate cat.

As for the current prototype I'm running now, I'll ebay it after I dyno it (in a month or two). My inaccurate and not to be trusted butt dyno says the car is faster, throughout the entire rpm range. My driving impressions in stock form was that the car had a very narrow usable power band of approx 2-4k rpm. Now the car feels a little stronger starting all the way down low. And when the car used to fall flat on its ass after 4k (making the trip up to redline seem pointless), it now feels like it actually wakes up after 4k. Again, this is totally unsubstantiated.

So you will be selling off your one of a kind prototype on eBay after? Hmm...I might pick it up if I can't wait.

sign me up when you go into production. I'd love a little more power in the lower RPM range

This may be a stupid question but how are these made anyway? From prototype to mass production? Prototype is manually constructed then replicated by a machine?

lol. Sorry to laugh, but there is no such thing as a header machine. The ones I make for the 2.5i take me 10 hours. I put my blood, sweat and tears into each and every header. The prototype in the first post took me two days to make.

Gotcha. I thought so. Is it the same for the other components of the exhaust? All manually constructed?

Sir, you have some phenomenal fabrication skills. My hat is off to you!

Also very nice quality merge, like broner inducing.

I'll get one soon, I promise. I was going to wait until I put together an actual production example of the axle back I will be offering, but have been beyond crazy busy lately. If you want things to move forward with the 2.0i tell people to stop buying my 2.5i headers!

Maybe I'll take a quick just for fun vid teaser, but it seems evil to torment you guys with the sexy rumble that I get to enjoy every day!
