Does it sound similar to this? I know this is a BRZ with a catback but just looking for what it may somewhat sound like.

(jump to 6:15 for more exhaust sound)

still waiting on your video man!

Sorry I don't have a video. Someone here posted a video on YouTube and its the same set up as mine. I went with stock size piping just got rid the resonator and run a straight pipe. The muffler is magnaflow and routed the same as stock which is hidden. You have to do the resonator or it won't sound much different. Definitely happy with volume and sound. It would be nice to have more pulsating rumble that's why I'm waiting for the UEL

Do you have any idea if these headers will work on the 10' 2.5x Forester? Those headers look totally different than the stock ones on the Forester. I saw that you made another post cutting off the cat on another OEM EL Header. Very interested in this if this is fairly priced.

I do indeed make a header for your Forester, it's the same one I make for the 2.5i (assuming you have a EJ253).

Disclaimer: this is a prototype header, the production units may sound very similar or distinctly different...

Daaaaang!! (<said like Joe Dirt lol) Its exiting to hear the 2.0i rumble like that! Can u walk us through ur full exhaust setup in addition to ur prototype UEL header and magnaflow? did u delete ur resonator too? Again, great work and thanks for paving the way!

Mike,

Check out what your headers sound like on a 2.0R Legacy Wagon!

The car is actually a member over on LGT.com from Netherlands parts list:
Quote:
-removed them ugly bumper guards
-EDM/JDM MY07 tail lights installed
-RalliSport UEL header.
-HKS oil temp. gauge, just to be sure. (UEL header very close to oil filter)
-Windows tinted
-Prodrive GT1 'Bright Flitter' 18x7,5j + Bridgestone S001 225/40R18
-Invidia Q300 catcack + Ulter Sport US NX70D tips
-Cosworth air filter (panel)

Yeah, he's was actually my first over seas 2.0R customer and discovered that the UEL header I made for the 2.5i did not offer enough clearance for the 2.0R oil filter, which is why I now make a special version for the 2.0R
He's actually a really great guy and we had many conversations via email. I offered to fix the problem, but I guess he had so much trouble getting his factory header off (and then installing the uel one) that he declined and just decided to monitor his oil temps. Again, a really great guy and a pleasure to work with

Since making some prototype axle backs for the 2.0i, I've had some requests for sound clips, so for the sake of sound accuracy, I took off my prototype 4-1 UEL header and reinstalled the factory unit. I took the opportunity however to run some back to back road dyno tests using RomRaider.

I did four pulls on the same strip of road with each header. The only difference in car's setup was the different headers. The first and second set of runs were done within an hour and a half of each other with identical weather conditions (18F, 53% humidity). 93 octane, stock intake with factory air cleaner (both of them). 2.25" catback. Tune was stock except for no ol/cl delay and just a tiny bit of timing added. I took the best average of all the runs (the posted graphs are neither the highest or lowest of either header).

DISCLAIMER: I made every effort to obtain accurate and unbiased results, but these are just road dyno results and NOT chassis dyno results, so consider this more of a just for fun comparison.
ALSO: The more informed members will already know this, but pay no attention to the actual peak hp or tq numbers, as they mean less than nothing. They can be manipulated to show any figure the user wants, I just picked a vehicle weight that gave me the most consistent results. For fun, we'll call them wheel hp&tq results with a magical drivetrain loss of only 11.5%

And now for the results...

Stock header:

And with the 4-1 UEL prototype:

Sorry, but I don't know how to overlay the two, so I did some math to save the strain on your eyes...

RPM, (4-1 UEL hp results compared to stock)
2000, +2
2250, +1
2500, +0
2750, -1
3000, -2
3250, -2
3500, +0
3750, +0
4000, +2
4250, +4
4500, +6
4750, +7
5000, +8
5250, +8
5500, +7
5750, +6
6000, +4

There was a slight loss in hp in the lower end. Peak hp increase was only 4hp, but as you can see, 1,000 rpm earlier it was double that. My theory is that the restrictive factory PZEV cat pipe was choking it near redline (as that was the only bottle neck in the setup).

There was also a slight loss in tq between 2,500 and 3,500 with a small gain in peak tq. Peak tq was also moved a solid 500 rpm to the right.

So overall not too shabby for a first prototype (especially seeing as how it was purposely UEL). We can definitely do better though. My goal: 15chp increase with a redesigned header and cat delete pipe.

I'll be selling the prototype header used in this test. It has about 4k miles on it. If interested and you have $700 burning a hole in your pocket, email me through my website.

Besides sound, I wonder what advantages UEL headers have over EL headers. Have you considered a performance EL design?

Sorry, I'm a bit of a newbie here. What is the ol/cl delay and how did you increase your timings on this engine? I wasn't aware of any mods to the factory computer settings yet...or was this done in some other fashion?

Advantages of UEL over EL? None. Well, one: price. A UEL header really just needs to fit correctly and sound good. A performance header needs to, ya know, perform...

I most likely will make a performance EL header, when I can find the time. It's just not a huge priority right now, seeing as how I'd probably only sell a few a year.

I placed a $300 bounty on the RomRaider forum to have a member reverse engineer my ecu's ROM hex file and come up with ecu definitions for me. If you are lucky enough to have the same cal ID as me, you get a free ride!

Understood. Just curious. Your headers do sound great though! I may end up buying a header from you sometime in the future so I will definitely keep a close eye on your work. Until then, keep on truckin'!
