Default Akuma build thread for my 2011 SWP WRX 9New 6 star speed 20GXR ball bearing turbo!

My 2011 WRX is now going through a 2011 STI 6spd swap, Stage-1 SB, Kamak 20GTX STS turbo, AP ELH, Akuma Big Maf custom intake (for the new parts).

The first block went with the standard #4 Ringland at 11K, the next SB blew out a cylinder wall on #4 (704 series casting) wih the HTA68 turbo pushing 23.5 PSI @ 350+ WHP with HSF-2 Mth kit @ 1:1 ratio.

So mods as follows:

Akuma Stage-1 SB (we are still not sure how we are going to bulletproof). New (Now stage-2 full internal build, h-beams, ACL etc., 05 STI 702 series halves)
AP Tuned Akuma Pro-Tune
2011 STI 6 spd swap with DCCD delete, Center VSD, 1:1 ratio running stock diffs and axles, TWM SS, Redline Goods Boots
ACT HDSS clutch kit w/OEM flywheel
Kamak 20GTX STS (9-blade) Turbo
FIC 800CC, 255 lph, GS EBCS
FMS FMIC, w.custom Akuma intake kit
Perrin Turbo Inlet, PTP Turbo Blanket, GS Heat Shield
AP ELH, GS Upipe
CNT DP/CBE quad tip
Aquamist HSF-2 Meth Kit, remote trunk mount
ISC Coil Over w/rear BC extenders and 6-piston BBK kit
Perrin Front & Rear sways, GT-Spec strut tower
ST-120 wheels 18x8 et48, Khumo tires
Alpine INAw910, H800, PDX-V9, CDT, JL 10W3V3
SMY w/porsport boost & EGT

Car going bach under the knife shortly as sson as the SB is figured out.

Didnt want to deal with the DCC controller, plus there are some reported issues with the controller and center diff at high horsepower.

Quick update had the new KAmak compressor cover thermal coated red. The engine build is almost complete, New Crank, Eagle H-Beams, Weisco pistons, ACL race bearings...

Done by GSD coating in NJ awesome people over there and great price.

I was going to go with the Albins gear set straight 1-2 Helical 3-5, but the housing on the 5-spd is the real problem, you can only fit a gear so big in it. So I had Rallispec build me a 6 spd that I could install using my diffs, etc as I already have 6-pot front brake upgrade, They took out the DCCD and put a viscous type center diff in. I wanted the cheapest 6-spd swap option and rallispec knew exactly what to do.

I need a new clutch naturally, flywheel, MC hose, 6 spd cover plate, shifter and linkage, rear prop shaft and adapter and trans mount and of-course the 6 spd trans. Rallispec offers awesome pricing so call them!

Kamak turbos are not on ebay at least last time I looked, this was a direct order form Kamak, they have an awesome rating and reliability record. They are sold under many rebranded names though. This is the STS 9-blade wheel with the billet compressor wheel.

We are shooting for 375-400 WHP, I was at like 360+ with the HTA68 turbo at 24 psi, so hoping for a little less cylinder pressure with the larger 20 G and a few more WHP. Torque is no problem now with the STI 6-spd swap.

New mods form the HTA are:
AP ELH, GS up pipe, 3" custom intake, speed density tuning, non catted DP and few other odds and ends!

I also went weith the older 702 series block because of the latest cylinder cracks in the 704 series. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

This is what I went with in the motor:

New STI/WRX Crank (Heat treated)
Weisco forged pistons w/coated skirts
Eagle H-Beam rods
ACL Race Bearings
Killer Bee Windage Tray & Oil Pickup
OEM Subaru Gasket kit
OEM oil pump
STI Oil Cooler
702 series case halves out of an 05 STI (trying to get away from the 704 series)
Decked the stock WRX heads cleaned etc.
AP ELH w/GS up-Pipe all DEI Titanium Wrap w/DEI silicone sealer
Kamak GTX-20 STS Turbo w/thermal coated compressor
Akuma custom 3" intake
AEM 3.5 Bar MAP
Aquamist HSF-2
