Cool 2011 WRX Sedan Exhaust Reviews! Invidia N1 , Q300, Nameless Performance!

I've gone through 4 exhausts so I figured I can contribute by giving a much better comparison by using the same camera and setup to film 3 different sets of exhausts on my car.

1. Nameless Performance 3.5" single wall muffler delete axleback
http://youtu.be/4Rm-yd9S98I?hd=1

2. Invidia Q300 ti-tip catback + Invidia catted DP

3. Invidia N1 street + stock DP

4. Invidia N1 dual + invidia catted DP

I'll review each one individually and then compare them all at the end.

NP 3.5" single wall axleback is a beautiful piece. The muffler delete saved so much weight... I know this because it was 10000x easier to put on/take off the axleback than the OEM axleback. It's 100% made in the USA and it's hand welded. The exhaust was definitely louder than stock. It was just louder everything. The raspyness became more apparent and there was some low end grumble too. This exhaust gave me some popping once in awhile. I eventually didn't like the single wall design and wasn't the look I was going for so I sold it. The person who bought it thereafter said it was way too loud for him. (He switched from a Q300 dual exhaust).
Approx $350

Invidia Q300 quad ti-tip catback
This is exactly how I want my car to look. It matched the new sedans so well, and it comes out the perfect amount. When I got it I felt like I was never going to go to another exhaust, it's just too sexy looking.
The sound however, felt lacking. It took out any raspyness there was and it was only louder when hitting the throttle hard. It sounds great, except you can barely hear it, even with an aftermarket DP. But this exhaust is a world of difference compared to the OEM. This is still lighter, and looks 100000x better. And believe or not, the OEM has more drone than the Q300. I'm getting rid of my OEM and keeping this guy instead.

Invidia N1 Street
The invidia N1 Street has the same midpipe as the Q300, so you can just buy the rear axleback for the N1. The difference between the street and the race is the midpipe. The midpipe on the street is resonated and race is straight thru === race much louder and raspier.

If you are looking for that subbie boxer noise, buy this one. When I first started it, I had the biggest grin. This is what makes your subaru, a subaru. I took it for a spin and that deep rumble all the way to ~4k rpm is just too awesome. On WOT it doesn't get that much louder, or so it seems. It does go up in the frequency though.
The drone on the N1 is minimal. It has a bit more than OEM, but so far all my women guests have told me they dont mind and don't bother putting on the silencer. Maybe they prefer to hear my exhaust than talk to me - could be a good thing.
This is just a single exit though so a lot of people won't like the look of it. I thought I wouldn't either but it's growing on me.

Invidia Dual exit N1 ti-tip w/ catted invidia DP:
So right after i got the single exit, invidia came out with the dual N1's. It looks a lot more symmetrical and just... better... to me. So I ended up trying this one out. The baby still has the awesome subaru rumble, i would say loudness-wise, it is just the same as the single exit. It might sound a bit louder but it's just because now there is also an exit on the driver side. The ONLY other difference with this exhaust is that it does drone just a tad bit sometimes. I notice it when it's cold with a high humidity, around 3k rpms haha. It's not terrible because it rarely happens. Comes with 2 silencers that i havent used yet. The sound is exactly that of a single exit N1. Loud and grumbly. Here's a short story - Right after I got the dual exit, i felt that it wasn't that loud/rumbly as the single exit. So... to test it out, I had my gf rev it for me while I was outside. It ended up setting off 2 car alarms in the community garage. opps haha.. it was a bad idea but it soothed any qualms I had for the exhaust.

Loudness scale:
OEM lowest - 1
Q300 - 3
NP 3.5" muffler delete - 4
N1 Street - 6
Dual N1 loudest - 6.5
Naturally Aspirated N1 exhausts - 10

NP has great sound, it just didn't look as good as the invidia exhausts
Q300 looks great but doesn't have that much volume
N1 looks different but the sound is perfect.

I ended up ordering the Ti-tip Invidia Q300 system from BMS this past weekend. Can't wait to get it!

scx89 was nice enough to chat with me on the phone and answer my questions about the Q300 vs the Dual N1 systems. Between the call, videos and write-ups I had all the info I needed to make a decision. Thumbs up to a nice guy!

I have the Q300 with the Invidia Catted DP. I think the volume of this setup is perfect for a daily driver. Its not hugely loud, but for me it has the perfect rumble when idle and sounds glorious on the throttle... but quiet enough that I haven't had any troubles with police.

Just my $0.02

To OP: Great post and review.

Curious.. Do you have any pics of the n1 street single tip on your car ?
I may be looking in the wrong places but wanted to see how it looks.

Thumbs up Sweet

I enjoyed the Vids and learned so much. I have finally decided. It's going to be the n1 Dual w/titanium tips. Post was greatly appreciated. Loved the Borla XR-1 on my old Stg-2 STi w/Cobb catted D/P. Hated the Magnaflow on my 2010 special edition. So 3rd time I'm getting this for my 2011 sedan.
I've been in touch w/Andrew @ Motion Labs in ref to the n1 Dual.

Yea great post, thanks for the info

Some people say the n1 street drones a lot where as others say it doesn't at all.

think is a sedan vs hatch problem though.

Great suggestion! Sounds perfect from the videos I found on YouTube. Q300 still looks the best out of any I've seen IMO.

Q300 does look pretty good....I went with the nameless a while back and love it....I will most likely get the mid pip and dp to finish it off

You won't see a performance increase without a downpipe and a tune.

I have a q300 on my stock dp. One of my buddies has n1 race and it's loud. How does the dual n1 compare? I want the look but I want loud.
