Is it just a plug an play to swap a 06 sti top mount into a 06 stock wrx? Do you have to tune that or will the sti cooler BOV cause issues?
I am just asking because my boss is selling me his like new 06 for 200$, an I was like why not.. just seeing if its a simple thing an if it will actually make that big of a difference.

The ypipe is like the most important and most expensive part of the intercooler. That being said if it doesn't come with it I would not spend more that 120 on the intercooler. A decent ypipe will cost you 60+, you'll also need gaskets. I picked up an 05 sti topmount for 150 including the ypipe. So use my experience as a reference Edit: I have a friend who bought his intercooler for 150 without the ypipe, he ended up having to spend an extra 100 for an OEM sti ypipe off of someone on here. |

http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Proc...ilicone-Y-Pipe is the most expensive part of the intercooler. When the Y pipe is not even part of the intercooler. It is it's own part. Please don't use his experience as reference! Intercoolers are expensive to make! I decent STI IC used goes for 200 plus BTW. Just dropping knowledge! |

That's truly a bunch of BS. If your buying a STi tmic, it should be expected that the OEM ypipe is included. If its not then it's not worth it IMO. You'll need to get a decent aftermarket(or OEM) ypipe for almost half the cost, not to mention gaskets. Your link also doesn't include the actual pieces that attach the ypipe to the intercooler.... just saying. |

I have a question about this..
I have a 2011 STI that I am in process of stroking out and allot of other things. I just picked up a 2005 WRX wagon and wanted to see if anyone nows of a link or have information on what parts from my STi will work on the 05 WRX |

if you're in the process of "stroking out" the STi block then I don't think you should a) have a problem figuring out what/why you need stuff from the WRX drivetrain b) hijack other threads >: )

![]() If they went FMIC then sure, you get lucky and find one with a y pipe. Otherwise, no it won't come with it. I've also bolted on several STi intercoolers to WRX's with the WRX y pipe and a new silicone connector. Think before you post. Last edited by kaos200; 11-28-2012 at 11:24 AM. |

OP, STi intercooler will be a good upgrade for your WRX. If it comes with the y-pipe, all you'll need is a longer turbo-intercooler coupler and a 3"x2.75" throttle body coupler (check me on that measurement, off the top of my head). Helps a lot with intake temps / heat soak, especially if you're running a slightly bigger turbo (VF43 / 18g). |
