245/40/17 on a 17x8 +45
Looking at getting this tire set up on a set of rpf1's.
Just want to be sure I won't have any rubbing issues with them. Since they'll be my summer set up I'd like to run as meaty of a tire as possible with out having to do all the fender rolling nonsense.

I'm running 245/45/17 on a 17x8 +48 or 45 drag dr-31 on Coilovers and am 13" from center wheel to fender with 1.75 camber on all 4 corners. No rubbing issues at all with bumps and hard cornering...
If its a WRX it is a tall tire but for an STi it's a good size.. Ill be going to a 255/xx/17 next and raising the rear 1/2"... maybe some 5mm spacers. |

I'll be on an 04 sti. I'm running dpec's with a mild drop so the same dimensions as the stock struts with the perches etc.
I read through the entire fitment thread and didn't find a thing unfortunately. |

You will rub in the rear unless you roll the rear or add negative camber.

I'm running SSR Type C that are 17x8.5 48mm offset with 245/40/17. Had to roll the rear fenders.

My main reason for asking is a buddy of mine just bought an 05 with the exact set up I've mentioned in the first post, there's no rolling done to the fender well.
What's the largest tire I can run on a 17x8 +45 and be safe from rolling / modifying fenders? |

The '05+ has slightly more room in the rear fender because of the small flares. The '04 doesn't have that. A simple roll of the rear fenders will allow you to run these tires. Why not just do it? If you don't want to roll, stick with a 225/45-17.

Thanks for the info..I'll look into finding someone local that can roll the rears if I go that route.

I had a set of RPF1s for a short time that was 17x8 and 45mm offset. They came with 225/45/17 and from the look of it, I probably could've ran a 235/45/17 and still clear.

I run 245/40-17s on my +45 RPF1s with D-Specs/RCE Blacks and it never rubs, even during autoX.

Looks like I'll just have to get the wheels and tires mounted and see what happens. I found a guy who can roll the rears if need be.

The majority of my buddies are huge dudes luckily their big asses don't fit in the back of my car so I never get stuck driving. I'll just get the rears rolled by the local shop and forget about it. Rolling the rears is only going to cost 20 bucks per side so it's not a big deal.

on the black trim that comes on the back wheels arches. no concern to the tire it self since it is rubber and i don't have adult passengers in the back of my car often.
so if i were to remove them then no. most dont have that trim anymore anyway. with them on yes. if you plan on going wider later, then i would recommend your route and rolling them anyway and then you won't have to worry in any case, trim or not.
