Default wheel rubbing need help.

Hi guys i have a 2013 wrx. and i just bought these wheels http://www.socalsubies.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=18963

xxr 18x8.75 35 et on 245/40r18 on stock suspension.

I was driving today i hit a small bump going 70mph on the freeway and it seems all 4 fenders rubbed, espically the rears. Anyone know why? i heard people running 18x9.5 40et on stock suspension that dont rub at all. Im going to get the rears rolled asap, but why does this happen? please help. thank you

you dont have enough camber, you are lowered, etc etc. there are too many variables and without knowing what else is done to your car, we can't give you an answer.

A proper fit would've been in the 8-9" range +40-45 offset.

Rubbing the fenders, right? Roll and pull the fenders.

While you may very well be correct in hearing that people are running those wheels without issue, it's not the wheels that rub the fenders, it's the tires. It also appears this combo came off a *modified* lowered '07 STi... that's not a great car to compare fitment to a 2013 WRX.

Stock 2013 WRX Sedan tires according to tire rack are 235/45-17.
The tires on your newly acquired wheels are 245/40-18.

The new tires are taller by about a 1/2" and wider by a 1/2"

Combine wider and taller tires with wheels of incorrect offset + stock suspension and you get what? Rub-waitforit-BING.

So while these wheels may work on other cars, it's the tires you need to concern yourself with. You're gonna need to take them off, sell them and get new ones that are properly sized in the same overall diameter as your stock wheels.

Education. It's what's for breakfast.

(P.s. your speedo is going to be off a bit too with these tires. When the car is doing 60, your speedo is going to read around 57. Which means when your speedo is reading 65, the car is going to be doing about 68-69, which in some places means a ticket for speeding, even tho your speedo indicated 65, you were going faster than that).

Only thing I could think of is that the 5 mm difference is causing the tires to hit the fender quicker. The fender does slant down pretty aggressively. 5 mm might do it. I would just get a fender roll and be done.

The difference is much more than 5mm....

In his case, he should have MORE clearance than an 18x9.5 +40 wheel.

Maybe the camber is retarded.
