I've spent a few hours on the web trying to find the suggested types of oil, transmission oil and differential fluid for my 06 2.5i but I'm not having much luck getting a solid answer. I have always taken my car to a quick change oil shop but I would like to start doing it myself. What are the types of oil i should be using? Also any suggestions to help me doing this would be great, as I am relatively inexperienced to working on a vehicle. What exactly will I need to change the diff fluid? etc.

Rear diff: Any GL5 gear oil. I'd go with a synthetic 75w90.
Trans: for MT, I've liked Motul Gear 300, others prefer Redline's Shockproof or Subaru Extra S. For AT, just go with whatever the manual recommends, and make very sure not to fill the front diff hole. |

Also, this should be in the trans/drivetrain forum.
