I just got that code. Alot of times it just means you need to tighten the gas cap. In my case, I had a disconnected evap hose. Its to the right of the turbo inlet, best way to see it is by removing the alternator. There are a few evap hoses down there though.

If your having a problem even starting the car though, it could be a number of issues. Might have something to do with the carcoal canister, and the hoses related to that.

I thought your year was drive-by-wire. Why are you pumping the gas pedal? IIRC, just putting the key in the "ON" position feeds fuel and pressurizes the system. I don't think the actual gas pedal "turns on" until the engine is started.

If I am wrong, someone please correct me. I am pretty sure, but I could be wrong.

I think what OP means by pumping gas is that he is at the gas station filling the car up with gasoline and paying money to OPEC

Wow, I feel retarded. Sorry.

I'm thinking the system is having trouble pressurizing. Check the pump gaskets as well as gas cap and evap control.

You don't overfill the tank, do you? Stop after the first click or you could fill the evap canister with gas.....

^ this. If you do it a few times it done and you have to replace it. My mom did this to there new Impala 3 months back. She was adding 1-2 gallons after the pump shut off to top the tank off and this is exactly what it did to the car.

Later.

I am gonna take a stab at this and say he is having the same problem I have been for a long time. I go to the gas station to put gas in my car and then proceed to start it afterward with the same result, and no I am not overfilling the car after the initial click. What I have realized is that the motor becomes flooded and full on runs like crap until driven/cleaned out. I have had much bigger problems, like getting my car running again, and havent had the chance to figure out what it is that is causing it. I have a few ideas as to what it might be, and was gonna work on it until I broke more crap...again.

To the OP, what mods do you have on your car? maybe we can compare and see if that helps. I kinda have a feeling what it might be. Also if you put the gas pedal all the way to the floor when starting, the motor will not prime with fuel when rotating the key to the start position and make the start up a little easier. For obvious reasons, dont leave the pedal on the floor after start up though.

I have this same problem after replacing my o rings and fixing a boost leak, I took the entire intake manifold off and we broke a sensor right next to the inlet...so I would check all your hoses and the sensor.

I know what sensor you are talking about...its the purge control solenoid for the canister. I also broke it the 1st time I had my manifold off With that being said, did replacing the solenoid fix your problem?

are u saying that a bad fuel tank/pump gasket will cause the motor to flood when putting gas in the car?

^I was refering to boost not the other guys. I dont think boost got the cel yet ................
As for that gasket, like i said if it was bad, you would smell the raw fuel smell alot.

no......the p0457 leak is a 'small' leak usually associated with not tightening the gas cap enough

but since the OP has swapped fuel pumps....I'll assume that the issue lies with the gasket being pinched/distorted

i have swapped fuel pumps when I installed a ton of other parts. I do not smell gas, have no cel, and it did not happen till maybe a year later? I just got my car running again, stupid oil pick up broke, and I will try and get this figured out again
