Clarification:

Santana was due to make $13mil this season, $1mil buyout. Decision had to be made today.

Haren is due to make $15.5mil with a $3.5mil buyout. Apparently they have to make their move by Friday.

Looks like the Marlins hired their new soon-to-be former manager today, Mike Redmond.

Trade rumor: John Lackey for Vernon Wells.

As much as I think Lackey is a dick he'd be far more useful than Wells at this point. Thoughts?

Jesus, that's an awful idea on both ends, Lackey can't get worse can he? And Wells 2012 line of 230 .279 .403 appears to be the new norm for him, if not on the high side.

On another note Tony Plush was outrighted to AAA, he'd be a better option than Wells.

The Blue Jays have sucked for a long long time now ... but at least they were able to trade Wells and get something good for him

That contract is death ... he can't hit, he can't run and his defense is average at best

So glad he's someone else's problem

Yeah...**** Vernon Wells and Lackey for that matter. This is what is wrong with sports, paying guys who can't perform for **** any sort of decent money. Teams should stop rewarding guys based off of what they did 5 years ago...

I agree, but it's still up to the team to dole out those contracts. If they're dumb enough to pay it, you can't fault the player for taking it. I still think Pujols' contract will end up being crapier than A-Rod's.

I am interested to see what happens with Hamilton. Will any team be foolish enough to give him a huge long term contract? I see him being very valuable for a few years but not worth a pujolsesque contract (not to say pujols will be either.). I just dont see how any Ball club in their right mind can pay a guy over 10 million a year into their 40's.

Edit; oh and I think the Title comes back to the A.L. next year it will just be traveling a south to Anaheim..............

Rangers offer Hamilton 13.2 million 1yr qualifier. The minimum. Looking to pick up draft pic when he signs elsewhere. Also didn't offer Napoli one which would have been 13 mil as well

Don't see it happening. Realistically though, 5 years tops for him?

Not bad.... But I really want them to resign Hunter. His presence will certainly be missed if he isn't brought back.

Just about everything by the Astros was leaked, new uniform, new mascot, and their 2013 last place finish.

Now it's saying the Haren for Marmol deal is a no go.
