Number 1 ordered Crosstrek color. People are loving it apparently. I like it. Would MUCH rather have that orange than Blaze Yellow.

Those 300 would normally be Lightning Red which aren't made anymore. By making a special color they almost guarantee the sales. This way they get free advertising from online blogs and move the last of the inventory before the MY14.

I like the color combo but there is really nothing to warrant a "Special Edition" badge. At least the 2010 STI SE had unique packaging and suspension substance along with a limited run of Aspen White. This seems to come out of a random concept from SOA marketing department for SEMA and celebrate Halloween with minimal effort. They could at least black out the headlights. Oh well, no harm done, just added publicity.

Well, I tend to like orajne, but I'm not so sure about that shade (of the '70's?). I've never cared for black wheels, perhaps oranje wheels would have worked better. That decal stripe is hideous.

Ugly IMO. What about frost colors, Ive seen some BMW's with awesome looking frost colors. Even a frost orange would be interesting. Personally Id like a frost satin white or gun metal with powdered black rims. Are these types of paint jobs much harder to maintain ?

Shoulda been a factory color. And I doubt much will change so the "my13" model year will be the same car.

Matte or satin paint jobs are a whole different beast when it comes to maintaining. For one you can't polish or wax it as it makes the finish look blotchy. For two you can't use regular car wash soap as most have waxes or such which can also make for a blotchy finish. All you can really do is wash it with normal dish soap and dust it off with a rag from time to time. Not sure about the longevity but so far mine has held up well but I don't clean my car much it being a rally car and all.

I cry foul on this

A Porsche 911 can be painted rust and baby vomit and still pull it off.
In the case of the Porsche, it is not what the color does for the car, it is always what the car does for the color.

That 911 photo just proves how good Orange can look when it is on the right car.

THe subaru cannot 'carry' that color the same way
