Default 2005 Legacy GT Drivesahft on 2011 wrx

Hello guys, I've consulted google on this one and haven't found anything too compelling.

I have a 2011 wrx that was rebuilt and it's run...Decent...for the last year. Since then I've noticed that I have an entire rust circle going around my driveshaft, this means it has been rubbing.

Is has "05 Legacy Gt" written on it. Is this driveshaft supposed to be an exact fit on a 2011 WRX?

I need to know so I can give my mechanic crap for it and get the CORRECT one.

It seems to be rubbing on the shift linkage, right below my gear box. Maybe that's why I can never get into reverse when I want to!

There are 14 Rear Drive Shaft choices for the 2005 Subaru Legacy!!!

Likely no, it's not the right driveshaft. Driveshafts are also different for AT and MT cars.

So now you go to your mechanic and hand him this printed out.....

Oh, and our cars are known to be a PITA to get into reverse. Probably not the driveshaft on that one.
Shifting into 1st and then going to reverse helps. If it still won't go in, go back to first and let the clutch out a hair to just move the car, then back to reverse, slides right in. With practice you get quick at it. Whatever you do, DO NOT force it!

Ooopps, I may have forced it ONE bad day. But I've been doing the whole 1st gear trick, it just still seems to be iffy and elusive.

Anyway, thanks for the post. I will definitely use this guide to my benefit : )

Sorry, i meant you tell your mechanic to replace with this and call it even (looking back now i realize that wasnt very funny.) I have searched and i can't find any driveshafts for a wrx that also say fit a legacy gt or vice versa. Keep us updated.
