Default $20K, what other car would you get besides WRX

I am using $20k because thats the price of a used WRX. What car, new or used would be next in line to a WRX. Or what would you get as a 2nd choice to your WRX? Friend wants a car that performs like a WRX but his paretns wont let him get one bc of friends in an accident in one..... Anyhow, let me know, thanks.

Mini cooper S!!!!
I would sell my car for one of those soooo fast, but I would get raped on trade-in. I doubt you could get one of those with lots of options for 20k, S types are probally more too but the normal mini cooper is a pretty cool car. I'd rather have one of those than many other cars.

also: Use the accident to show how safe WRXs are or not. Anyway, people crash all kinds of cars, tell them to keep that in mind.

my '95 M3 with 63k miles was about $18,000.

drove a NEW wrx again right before I pulled the trigger to get it-- NO comparison and I haven't regretted my decision for even a moment.

You may want to find out if his parents are against the WRX or high-performance cars in general. (why waste time shopping for a car the parents are going to shoot down anyway...) Does he want a small car, big car, sports car, sedan... give us something to work with here.

If parents allow it I'd get a C4
otherwise, new TS or maybe an SE-R or MazdaSpeed.

Yeah, blame the car. Did your friend's parents consider what might have happened to him in a car not equipped with the safety AND performance of Subaru? The performance aspect may not have played into it at all, but fools can wreck any car IMHO.

would be my first choice

the ws6 is gonna be a lil higher, depending on mileage, but a z28 or a reg t/a would fit the bill nicely as well. ls1 only ofcourse

The new Mazdaspeed Protege looks very nice.

Used RS then turbo it.

It really depends on what general kind of car he wants and whether he wants new or used. If he wants a new sporty car (ie. similar to a WRX) then I have to agree with the Mazdaspeed Protege and the Cooper S. And although I have nothing to base this on I doubt that either would be as safe as a WRX in an accident. Maybe he can go with a 2.5 RS, not as fast but still a fun car.

I agreee with the RS idea. Much more of a sleeper; but LOADS of mod potential...
