First off, 3" catback is FAR too big for your car, and is not helping with the sound. And if you thought you were going to get the "boxer rumble" because you put on an exhaust, you were wrong. The "rumble" is caused by the unequal length header found on the car that creates the effect. While you can put one on your car, it will cost a decent amount of money just for some sound.

You need UELH. Please don't put sti exhaust on a 2.5i .. Instead of trying to make it sound like a wrx.. just save up for it

You don't have a downpipe. Only turbo Subaru's have them.

First off, you need to calm down! You won't live long like this! It's too much excitement for one person! I'm joking! You use a lot of these "!" !

Now, back to business. The cost associated with you getting an unequal length header is probably not worth the benefit. It is, however, your money so do what makes you happy. That will net you the sound you're after, but at a pretty penny. Good luck!

Search the naturally aspirated section and you will find a Rallysport header thread. Your looking at just over $500

I think the stock STi exhaust would be a perfect upgrade for a 2.5i over some gaudy JDM angled crap.

However I think that would require a custom welding job as the flanges are not the same. Still, a stock STi exhaust can be found for $100 or less plus $50 for the welding and you have a subtle clean exhaust that increases the sound only slightly.

he asked about dp's in another thread. Apparently he didn't get the fact that only TURBO cars have a down pipe.

they did answer it, you just didn't understand, and it was a persons build thread, ask in the n00bs section if you don't wanna read unabombers manifesto, because a little research would have told you that...

My last car was 2.5i and I went through several exhausts trying to find the right balance of power and sound. I tried a 3" catback - noisy and killed power. I tried a wrx catback, quiet and killed power. I put the factory catback on and deleted the resonator, welded in some stainless straightpipe and had a 'powerful' system with a little tone to it. About as good as it gets for the 2.5i. As much as I tried to mod that car I finally gave in to what everybody was saying and got the WRX. Dont spend too much $!

so if you have an STi and a 25i shouldn't you know the 2.5i had no down pipe or up-pipe?
