Default New Outback...roof rack fixes? suggestions?

So anyone who has a new outback has obviously been plagued by the horrible roof rack. I'm trying to find out what others are doing about it. Are there kits, replacements, or ideas? What has worked for you?

For those who are unaware of the issues they are as follows:
The rack is not adjustable. 2014 model has one additional mounting point in the back but that's brand new.
There is no tie down hole or hook. This has made it nearly impossible to bring home a christmas tree as it was sliding all over the place.
My inflatable boat won't work on it for fear it will slide off since I can't tie it down from the sides.
Subaru cross bar bolt on attachments nearly scrape the roof from the bolt. I'm afraid to drive over bumps with the kayaks on top.

What is everyone else doing to fix these major problems?
