Default JDM/USDM AVCS terminal differences

Does anyone know if the electrical terminals for the AVCS connectors are different? As in, can I just pop the USDM connectors off and slide the JDM ones on there or will I have to cut and splice the new connector on there?

This is for a V9 EJ207 in a '05 LGT with the LGT harness.

Thanks, Kevin

Ya they are the same functionally but the plug will need a slight trim to fit. swapping over the plug will be a cleaner option.

More important question did you replace the cams and avcs cam sensors with usdm parts so the car will actually run?

Yeah I want to swap the plugs but I was concerned about the actual terminals being the same(avoid having to cut the wires).

I have USDM parts needed(EJ255 cams and sensors) but since no one can tell me how the timing marks are spaced I'm going to experiment with a signal converter first. Initially, that wasn't my plan; I only went this route because the guy that I had drop the motor in for me didn't swap out the cams like I asked.

I can help you with most of your cam swap stuff and sensors questions. I have done this swap my self into my fxt. If your have the jdm mani with wiring it will help you alot when it comes to unpining the plugs you need.

Its a good thing he didnt put the cams in as the car would not have run with out modifing the cam sensor holes to get the used cam sensors in there.

Thanks amroof! I'll definitely hit you up if I need some help with that. I've already sold the manifold since I can't use it but luckily kept the harness. Did you just unpin the connectors and swap them over?

The original plan was to use one OE cam sensor and a smaller aftermarket cam sensor where the hole would have needed to be modified. I've never liked the idea of non-reversible modifications; though if it was the only way, I'd just cave in and do it.

Yea For the avcs and the injectors actually. I used the jdm mani but ran the usdm avcs solenoids for a little while as one of my jdm ones broke in transit. so when I got the new valves in I just unpinned the usdm ones and put the jdm ones on. And the harness I have on my jdm mani is my usdm one so the sidefeed injector clips arent the same as the topfeed ones. You can modifiy the plugs by cutting on the edges of the clip. I did this for a little while and then swapped the plugs.

And when it came to modfiying the heads to take the new cam sensors and holes I figured they would be worth more as more people would want them for the usdm 32 bit sti's. So I figured why not and dove in. I dont regret it at all.
