Unhappy what's up w/ flowmaster exhaust??

I know that flowmaster is common among american cars but I was wondering if they make anything for the new WRX? Also what makes them different from the popular "import aftermarket exhausts". I ask because Flowmaster seems to be a good company. I am a newbie so any halp is appreciated. THanks

The biggest problem is no warranty and tone.I sell the stromungs for the wrx and they come with a 2 year rust thru warranty.

Flowmaster uses resonance tuning for muffling, while imports tend to go for a glass pack style muffler and other mufflers with sound dampening material, because turbos don't seem to like chambered muffler, which is primarily what Flowmaster makes. They also sound really poor on 4 and 6 cylinder cars, but greatly compliment the V8's exhaust tone.

never heard one on a wrx . but it sounds really good on my RS... (and its cheep.. less than half what a stromung costs) .. and you don't have to crawl under your car ~200 installed

after break in ~3000 miles it sounds very simmilar to a stromung

i dunno what the above ppl are talking about .. i drove a car w/ a flowmaster on it this morning

fwiw there is an "import version" of the flow master

I had a flowmaster on my first RS. I thought it sounded good. Nice and deep. It was heavy, though.

Magna-Flow makes a good exhaust for import cars that uses a straight through pipe surrounded by glass. (Glass-pack) And it is something just about any muffler shop can do for $140-180. Mine sounds great. Although it isn't a WRX.

Magnaflow Look under Mirror Finish section.

These are nice mufflers and you have tons of styles to choose from. Price is not bad either.

I just put on my Stromung single-tip today. It sounds great and is much smaller and lighter than the factory muffler. The tip doesn't appear to be much (if any) bigger than the factory tip which is great for me, considering I think those grapefruit shooters look pretty silly.

Sound is great, and it also gives me more clearance in the back than the factory muffler allowed.

I got mine used from an i-club member. I'll have some pics up tomorrow probably.

My friend just put a 40 series Flowmaster on his 1987 CRX, under idle there's no difference, but under open throttle, it sounds really deep, even though it's a Honda!

I'd rather spend a few bucks more for a Borla. It's all stainless and it's incredibly lightweight.

I had a Flowmaster on my RS. The fact the flat-4 has a rumble more like a V engine makes this muffler sound good. Mine was a bit quieter than the Stromug (sp?) and a third the price.

I'm looking in to getting a Magnaflow (mirror series) put on. WRX owners check the part numbers, the Magnaflow is majority less than 3" inlet, including all the dual tip. If I get one I'll do sound clips and photos.
