Default Are all steelies the same?

Im just wondering if there is really any deference between different steel wheels. I've found a few different ones at different prices and i just want to know if I go for the best price or is there is a reason tire shop A charges more than shop B.

I assume you mean the steel wheels that are correct fitment for your car? Obviously there are plenty of differences in diameter, width, bolt pattern, and offset for steel wheels in general for different makes and models.

I think I know where you are going though, I found a slightly used set on craigslist, the guy said they were direct fitment for his Saab. I called a few of the "well known" tire shops online(discount tire, tire rack, etc). I told each company which car I had and asked for 16" steel wheel options. Then I asked if they had part numbers for them so I could match them with the craigslist set I had found. At first one of the shops (I can't remember which) found me a set but couldn't match the number the craigslist wheels had, these wheels that did not match were 53 offset iirc. I then managed to call a few other places and ended up finding another steel wheel that fit, this number matched- but it had a slightly different offset(41 iirc). So there are at least 2 out there that can be different. I think the set I ended up getting from craigslist was originally a little more expensive(when purchased new from the retailer that is). I was happy that the set I found had a further offset, I hope they sit more flush than some others that I've seen.

Sorry if I have confused you, I was typing in haste!

Yeah I'm looking at ones that fit.

I guess I just wanted to know if there was any reason shop around for the right set because lets pretend someone says the ones from tire shop A suck and rusted quickly and i should totally get the ones from tire shop B.

My example sucks but that's because I don't really know what a reason would be. That's sort of my question.

....or should I just go with the best deal.

like I stated above, I know there are at least two different wheels. The offset is probably the only real difference. Both were just painted black steel rims. I'd go with best price unless the small difference in offset is worth it to you. I doubt one will rust faster than the other, they're just for winter anyway, right? If they end up looking bad after a few seasons you could always powder coat them..
