Default Tribeca Courtesy Lamp Lenses

I am upgrading some of the light fixtures on a '06 Tribeca to LEDs . Thinking of the courtesy, a.k.a. step, lights in the doors, I looked into the owner's manual. It says: "It may be difficult to replace the bulbs. Have your SUBARU dealer replace the bulbs if necessary." Why is that? Is it difficult to pry the lenses out of the panels, or maybe they do not come out at all, without destroying them, and the whole door panel needs to be removed (or at least loosened)? I know the light housings are fastened to the panel with screws from the inside, but the lenses still look like they could be pried off. I'd rather pull the door panels than pay for new lenses, which are quite pricey, especially if I have to buy all four. Has anyone accessed those bulbs?
