Default What size tire

Putting on some Works 11r wheels and I am torn between 2 sizes for the tire. Car suspension is stock, may get coils if the fender gap is too much

Specs. Car is a 2012
Wheels going on are 18x8.5 +47 offset

255 35 18 Or 245 40 18

Car specs: 2012 hatch, stock suspension

Assuming GR chassis, either size will work, height wise the 245/40 is a little tall, some will say 255 is a tad bulge for an 8.5 but the general consensus I've found is that 255 is fine.

I think overall the 255/35 is a better size for the Subaru but the price on tires go way up on that one.

255 is better on an 8.5" than an 8", and falls within "recommended" sizing.
