Default Potential of an EJ20 build, 93 impreza? Questions

Howdy, currently I am driving a 1993 impreza L, which has the 2.2 swapped into it, about to have a frankenmotor swapped into it.

I was just presented with the possibility of buying a EJ20 settup from a 1994 legacy. It is a closed deck, and comes with JDM ej20 heads. Also comes with the entire drivetrain, along with rear end and o2 wrx dash. Doesn't come with an intercooler though, and needs to be put back together.

What are the build possibilities of this motor HP wise?
Would I want to use the transmission it comes with, or should I use the 2001 forester transmission that I have laying around, 4.11 final drive iirc?

Being that this is an OBD1 and my car is an OBD1, could I just swap ECU's and drop it in or would there be significant amount of wiring?

I've heard closed decks are rather reliable?

Worth $300 ducks?

The closed deck 2.2 from that era is a very very nice block. Along with Ej20g or EJ20h DOHC heads that is a very nice setup.

Just swapping ECU's and having it run: I highly doubt it. Your NA 2.2 has different sensors. You would need to merge the appropriate EJ20 engine harness with your dash harness. Iwire does this for a decent fee.

Sounds like you need to research more, what is involved in the swap.

No you do not want your stock NA forester transmission. You want the turbo transmission, as your NA will not be able to handle the power.

My NA 2.5 RS transmission held up to 18psi from an ej20k. By held up I mean lasted all of 2 launches before 2nd gear shat itself.

The 2.2 block is a great power making block. I had a stroker motor with the 2.2 and 20k heads. Unfortunately the timing belt tensioner braket gave away making it a short lived motor, but the off boost torque it had I loved compared to the stock 20k I put back in the car.

The block is becoming more and more rare since everyone is destroying them.
