Default Official SLC Cobb Tuning/Modern Garage meet info...

Could someone make this a sticky?

Ok Kids here we go

current info....

As most of you know, the meet is going to take place on October the 19th. There is an Autocross the day after, which is why we waited a little while to have it.

The Cobb staff will be relocating the weekend of October 5th/6th. Having the meet on the 19th allows them to come and get settled in, plus having the Autocross will be fun

Both Cobb and Modern are really really excited about this meet. It should go big. We are planning on some great prizes. The Dyno pit has been dug out, and all is going as planned with that whole deal. I am still looking into Dyno runs so please be patient. The way I see it, the out of towners should have first crack at it since the SLC locals will have access from now on with little drive time. This is just a thought, but I think its fair considering there will not be enough time for all of us to use it (if at all) and there will be some folks making a long drive for this meet. Lets show some local hospitality while we can....ok?

Again, Cobb and Modern are both super busy, so if you have questions or suggestions about the meet, please post them here. Noah (suberboy) and myself (ibis) are the locals working with Cobb/Modern to help ensure that this is the most happening shin-dig to hit the Subaru world

For those coming from outside SLC.....

Here are the names & #s of the hotels that are located on 4500 South & 500 West:
Fairfield Inn (801) 265-9600
Hampton Inn (801) 293-1300
We have preferred to use the Fairfield Inn, it is closer and usually less expensive.

There is a real possibility of media coverage for this meet be it major (grassroots) or minor (local paper) so order those rims you have wanted for a while now

Even if no major magazine editors show, we plan on writing out own article. With Noah's mad camera skills, and my knack for run on sentences, we will submitt the event to every import car magazine.

We don't have a set schedule yet, but it should go something like this....

Saturday 8ish- WAKE UP AND WASH YOUR CAR
9:30ish- Come on down to the meet
10-15ish- Cobb/modern Noah and I thank everyone for coming
10:30-11:00ish - Tour of both facilities
mingle, check out each others rides, possible dyno runs
12:00- Lunch
When everyone returns from lunch begin to raffle off prizes
Perhaps some words of development from Cobb/Modern.
Chill some more, possibly get rides in the sickest cars that show more dyno runs, gather for photo ops
2ish- Speeches or minor words of such from Modern and Cobb tuning about goals, future outlook, etc....

3 or 4ish- afternoon drive around the canyons or a route yet to be determined (Noah, we need to use that new map of yours)

Possibly some Nascart (go kart) action. www.nascart.net, then dinner or whatever.

Sunday- Autocross autocross autocross!!!!

I think we are going to see a representative from one of the local dealerships. Maybe they will bring news of future Subaru of America programs or accessories or cars (STi).

I am sure I missed something, but Noah and I will continue to update this as often as we get new information. Plus I am going to send Alex (imprezer) a note to post on the main page of i-club to hopefully gain more interest from other states. Thanks for your patience.

How far is this from Denver? My wife owes me a "guys day out" since she just had her "girls day out". My car ain't much and it's got a ton of miles but it sure would be fun to put a I-club name to a face.

I believe Denver is 8 hours from SLC.

As for the prizes, we have Cobb, of course, but we are also seeking outside support. I plan on asking everyone we can. We should have at least one dealership supporter, we may try to get some SPT stuff or whatever from them. We are on the tail end of of a t-shirt design. Noah and I colaborated on it for a few hours. Of course we still have to finalize a few of these details. The plan is that everyone should go away with something. That is a big statement. How many other meets can say that one. Now its taking us some doing, but we want to show our appreciation for at least 50 participants. Again:The plan is that eveyone should go away with something.

I think a set of Volks may be a stretch, but I want to reach for that possibility. Why not? If this goes as big as we all want it to, there is no reason why a set of rims eventually becomes a prize. Maybe not this time around, but we'll see what kinds of stuff we can come up with. When I get some confirmation from outside sponsors, I'll let you know.

Try to make sure there are some new muffler hangers in the prizes and that I magically win them That's cool conebasher is coming, I was under the impression that that was a customer's car in Texas, is it Cobb's car? Will it be staying? If so, I better not go into Street Mod next year

We may have to have a few of the nebraska-subaru.com guys come out and attend. This should be sweet!!!

I'll have to look up a map and see how far away SLC is.

Sounds great!

if I drive It will be about 700+ miles or so. Them Nebraskians should definately come out.

So should all you Coloradians...

Last years meet where Modern introduced the APS systems to the region was a blast. (and Im not just saying that because it was my car featured)

Maybe Ill see if anyone from SCIC wants to tag along.

Is there a set schedule yet? Those of us not getting tuned and/or dyno'd will probably be ready to go do something else after a few hours. Go-Karting would be fun and/or a canyon drive. Sounds like fun!
