Default Max tire size with 04 STi springs and struts on 96 Legacy Sedan?

Looking to see what is the tallest and widest tire size I can fit into a 96 Legacy sedan with 04 STi springs and struts.

1010tires.com have these for tire dimensions for 16" tires:
225/60/16 8.85" x 26.62"
215/60/16 8.46" x 26.15"
225/55/16 8.85" x 25.74"
215/55/16 8.46" x 25.31"

I run 225/60/16 on my outback wagon with 04 STi springs/struts.

OMGHi2U Imho ...

I have run 225.16.50's on both my legacy gt's ... the 97 with coil overs ... not an issue .. but I did roll rear fender's to make sure ..

not sure why you would run a taller tire ... much better performance and still a very comfortable ride with 50 profile ..

with adjustable AGX's on a 98 Leg gt ... I need a 3mm spacer and no problems ... but again .. I rolled the rear fenders .. critical spacing on the 98 was wheel to strut .. AGX base for springs extends further out than stock & coil overs ...

I am confident you would not have any problems at all with 215's .. but in terms of plus sizing .. 225.50.16 are nearly identical to stock size in diameter ... and as I said .. not sure how much room you'll have with STI set up ... I suspect the 225's will work . but not certain ... if you can do a test fit ...

plus .. you get a bigger contact patch .. almost 40 mm between you and the road surface ..

good luck with your choice ..

Thanks for the response^^^. Reason I ask is because I have a set of 225/60/16 in my garage that I'd like to use for this winter and I was thinking the 60's could give me a little bit more clearance with my suspension. I was under the impression on legacygt.com that 60's would hit the perch but looks like that I'll just have to see for myself. Anyways I have a set of 3mm and 5mm spacers if needed and I could always roll my fender if anything hits.

You need butt spacers my friend! Thanks for posting. 60's don't look too bad.

I bought butt spacers but haven't installed them yet. I also have lowering springs and am considering just lowering the front.

60 sidewalls are ridiculous though. They are like truck tires. My tires flex LONG before my suspension does.

Without some work, 225s aren't going to fit properly. Stick with 215s, will work much better.
