Default ACT HD Street Clutch & Streetlight Flywheel

Just had this combo installed on my 2010 WRX. My stock clutch was abused a little and was suffering from a little bit of over heating.

First impression is the clutch is very grabby. Stalled it twice on the way home from the shop but you just have to adjust your driving style to accommodate. I hardly noticed any chatter at all so I imagine there will be pretty much ZERO chatter once its broken in. The pedal feel is slightly heavier than stock. Strangely enough it felt lighter than stock only because my OEM clutch was abused and had been worn down and over heated from my "spirited driving". My brother also has a 2010 WRX but he still has the OEM clutch and he never abuses his car like I do. So compared to a very low mile OEM clutch, the ACT combo is only slightly heavier. It does bring a ON-OFF like feel of the pedal, but I prefer this over the OEM soft engagement style.

The lightweight flywheel is very noticeable. The engine revs a little quicker and you feel the extra HP/TQ that is making it to the wheels. (For clarification, the LWFW does not make more power, it just allows less power loss between the engine and the wheels making the car a tad bit faster) No CEL, no adjustments needed in my tune. I like this setup way better than the stock clutch.

The ONLY downside I noticed was a slight gear ratted on deceleration. This is normal and I was prepared for it. I only noticed it very faintly in 3rd gear but its probably happening in the other gears. I have my entire drivetrain upgraded to poly mounts as well as my shifter so the gear rattle would be more pronounced on my car than a car with all OEM bushings. I mean the gear rattle is so faint I barely hear it. If the radio is on its not audible. Completely stock WRX's have the gear rattle but you don't hear it because of the soft OEM bushings and heavier stock flywheel.

So my review is 4.75 stars out of 5 for this combo. I took .25 away due to the slight gear rattle. It does not bother me, but if the gear rattle was the same level as OEM I would have given it a 5 of 5. If you stick wit the OEM flywheel you probably wont have any gear rattle noise increase.

I recommend this clutch for anyone looking for a street usable clutch that does not sacrifice much if any daily driveability.

P.S. quick update after a bout 700 miles of break in.

Clutch chatter is gone completely unless I try to engage the clutch at to low of an RPM. The gear rattle on deceleration actually got quieter. It's about half as loud as it was right after the LWFW was installed.

I'm a happy customer. Thanks for the great deal and fast shipping Josh!

OP, how's it going with this clutch setup? I'm looking at getting the same one for my 2009 WRX. How many miles do you have on it now and do you still like it?

I traded that car in. But I liked the setup. If I could do it again I would have kept the stock weight flywheel.

i had the street clutch in my 04 wrx and it only lasted a year from some drag launches at the track. it was def stiffer than stock and it held the power. i was running the stock 5 speed and an evo 3 16g with all the supporting mods. i replaced it with a south bend clutch and that was the awesomest clutch i've ever had.
