Default swap decisions.

Ok so im sourcing a motor for my 2005 2.5 wagon. Ran across a few options and not sure what i can get in without too much work. So a couple question shall ensue.

What version engine is the 2005 WRX?
Will a 98 2.0 work with minor wiring harness mods?
What motors WONT bolt up to my auto tranny. (Have to keep this due to military injuries.)
Any recommended engine sources?

I'm sure more questions will arise as i begin this swap. Thanks ahead for any and all answers.

Im not after power right now, that will be a aspect in the near future though. Right now im after driveability as this is going to be a replacement car for a few months.

Just get a 2.0 motor out of a wrx. You can't do an sti swap unless you swap the drivetrain too :/. This should help,

I will have a complete ej205 longblock 138k for sale soon with short ram intake, gimmick turbo inlet, tgv delete, port'n polish and ceramic coated manifold and tgv's, Grimmspeed phenolic spacers and big port gaskets, de-catted oem uppipe, a timing belt kit with new tensioner, pulleys, water pump and a used 05 STi oil pump. The TD04 could be replaced it is starting to burn up some oil but those r cheap as dirt. Let me know if u would be interested. Actually parting out the entire car if u want anything else (except the Voltex wing) *insert shameless plug*

Thank you for that link. And after a considerable amount of reading, looks like im going to just buy a replacement 2.5 N/A for now and slowly gather up the parts for the WRX swap. Seeing as there is alot more to this than i considered.

That being said. Anyone got some good leads or who to stay away from looking for a engine?

And right after i posted this... PM sent.
