Default What is the earliest build date for the WRX

I tried searching this on google and on here but I could not find an answer. Its random but what is the earlist build date for WRX, is there any master list with the serial numbers or anything like that? I know
I only ask b/c I actually looked at my cars build date and it is 01/01, I can see how much earlier they could have built a "02 model" car.

hmm, missed that one. Guess it says it had a release date in 2000 recieved in 2001 at some point in the US for a 2002 model. Interesting. Guess what I was looking for was if anyone new what the date itself was, I.E. 10/00 or 11/00 something like that.

the earliest us wrx purchase that i have seen posted here is March 2001

also, 'Model Year' for most of the pacific rim countries and AUS - NZ are a year behind the US
Their 2001 is our 2002.....which causes some confusion about differences in comparing cars

I think the earliest build date would somewhere late '92/early '93.

Also, Australia and New Zealand didn't get the WRX as a proper AUDM/NZDM variant till quite late, we got them all grey market imported from Japan.

Also Aussie spec are buckets of fail, 'New Zealand new' didn't get a speed limiter. The differences are really in the tune. NZ and Aussie versions are detuned for our fuel which are both crap compared to what is available in Japan.

The first WRX came out in Japan in November of 1992. In the US, the bugeye was shown at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show, but launched as a 2002 model car.

Bumping the thread, not the argument

My wagon's build date is 01/01. Wondering how early it was made in that first batch... Does anybody know how to decipher the VIN?
