Default Rattling is driving me crazy, help.

So here's the issue. I own a 2002 WRX, over the past month I have been hearing some rattling which sounds like it is coming from the passenger side rear door and B Column. The noise only happens when I come off the throttle around 2800 to 3300 rpm. I pulled the whole door apart and B column and I can't seem to find the sound. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally I though maybe the exhaust was tapping against the rear diff. I swapped the exhaust out with my brothers exhaust which has plenty of clearance, didn't help.

Look under your car and see if the "outrigger" bushing is still in tact. It's part of the diff mount. I have the same issue and I've narrowed it down to that.

These "outriggers" don't like weight, If you have jacked your car up by them (a lot of people do) that may be your problem.

When bent they make contact with the chassis of the car and transfer vibrations from the transmission to the vehicle cabin.

I took a look and you guys were right. I narrowed it down to the subframe "outrigger" bushing. I just had the transmission services and I am thinking that when they lifted the vehicle they may have been exerting some force on those outriggers. The subframe itself looks fine but I get a resonating sound if I tap on it.

How hard is it to replace those bushings, or is it something I should get done at a shop?

Very easy to replace the bushings.
