Default What would you drive if you didn't have your car?

New here and didn't know if I should put this in the General Community or Off Topic. I apologize if I chose the wrong one. I'm curious as to what cars Subaru owners would have if they had to choose something different. I admit I am making this thread selfishly to come up with a list of cars to look at before settling on a WRX.

I'm in the market for a new car and trying to get a list of cars that I'm interested in. The WRX/STi is the only car that is doing it for me right now. Just curious what others would choose if given the opportunity to get something else now.

As a background of myself I currently own a 2003 G35 which I've had for 7 years now. Before that I had a 1993 240sx which I had for 6 years (I think). I've only had RWD coupes and looking for something different. What's more different than a AWD Sedan ? I like having some good performance, but I don't have to be the fastest on the road. As much as I like the luxury sport cars (M3, S4, etc...) they just don't fit my lifestyle, which is good because I don't make enough to afford them.

So I guess to answer my own question I would own a WRX

I honestly dont know what i would have got, i had the wrx picked as the car i wanted since i had my learners permit. my brother bought a 2011 and i absolutly loved and i knew it was what i wanted. had i not been able to afford one of these, i probably would have gotten a civic or something. i didnt want an evo/ ralliart, cobalt ss/ mazda 3 were front wheel drive with a lot of power so i figured it wouldnt be that good for winter driving and i didnt want a vw

Mercedes Turbodiesel Wagon! Or Sedan, doesn't matter that much.

At least, that's what gets me going right now.

it would have to be awd/4wd 4+ doors with cargo space. and (relatively) fuel efficient.

I probably would still be driving my Nissan Frontier that was paid off. When the new style wrx came out they really caught my attention so I bought one. It's nice having a fun car to drive but I do miss the truck at times.

2013 Subaru Outback 3.6r with EyeSight.

If wasn't able to choose Subaru, it'd be a 2013 Kia Sportage SX AWD. I'd hate having to look at the huge C pillar though. =\ And I'd hate opening the rear hatch which has the handle right above the license plate that easily gets dirty. Don't even get me on the rear turn signals location.

I am always looking for a westfalia with a manual trans and a blown motor so I can do a svx swap in it and have everything I want (until I make enough for a syncro).

Also on my list, E39 M5 lemans blue with grey interior (if I ever find one and have the money at the same time....)

I test drove the GLI Jetta, the Focus ST, and an EVO prior to buying the WRX. I am coming from a CTS-V.

If it had to be a car, it would be an Evo probably.

If I was in a scenario where I couldn't afford a wrx or an evo I would just buy an inexpensive civic/toyota/acura 4 cylinder to puts around in until I got financially stable again.

My 65 falcon with it's 5.0 5spd. Fast fun car. My scout if I kill something or if its snowing. My jag (chevy v8) if it's just raining. my e250 if I need to haul something.

Where do you live???

If you live in a place like Houston or Miami or San Diego, to me, an AWD car makes no sense whatsoever. I'd get a Mustang Boss 302. I like the Laguna Seca version, but don't like the $6900 adder that it costs.

If you live in northern Alberta, I'd buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Great ground clearance and the ability to get really nice interiors.

If you do a ton of driving (say 40k miles a year), then the Jetta TDi is probably the best choice for it's 40+mpg and 4 door practicallity.

Do you have other cars? I ask because I do and can fall back on one of them for fun or practicallity, so could choose a daily driver based on other preferences.

So where you live and what your life is like makes a huge difference.
