Default Got an 05 STi again!!

I am backk!!!!! I used to have an 05 STi from 2006-2011 and unfortunately in 2011 it got totaled. It was really hard for me to see it go. I thought I would try something different and bough an 2009 Mazda6i Touring. Drove it for a year and realized I was missing something... I had to have an 05 STi again! Its my favorite year, and I used to have one for good 5 years.

2 Days ago, I found a post on CL and ended up contacting the seller. Everything went well and I got my 05 STi. This time it was not WRB but OBP. It already came with mods, so it saves me a lot. It has forged pistons just like my old STi and more. The only thing I don't like is the CAI. The car spent 90% of it's life in Florida, then 9% in Nevada, and 1% here in Oregon. They don't see rain often, which explains the cold air intake mod. It's only got 54k miles. It's got new pistons, new twin plate exedy clutch, and a brand new VF39 turbo. It's got other mods on it also. It's got a glovebox tuner wideband.

I love the car!!! The car pulls like crazy. Need to get it on the dyno, get a protune (not sure if Nevada uses 92 or 93 octane). According to the seller it's got over 400hp. It defiantly pulls harder than my old 05 STi. My old STi gets full boost at 4k rpm and it has power then it drops towards the redline. This one pulls from 4k to 5k and then it even pulls harder up to the redline.

Here is a short clip I made of the car.

Anyways enough with my story, here are some pictures!!!!

Welcome back and congrats!

400 hp on a VF39 turbo? Sounds exaggerated to me. People have come up in that area with a VF turbo, but only after taking it to the very max, and even then its not the safest thing. Might be time to upgrade to a bigger turbo to compliment that nice front mount!

Either way, very awsome car!

nothing sexier than waking up in the morning and walking out the door to work and seeing that sitting there just begging to go for a drive. I just picked up my 04 about 2 weeks ago. The last owner did some stupid "ricer" mods like a great hks down pipe but a straight pipe with a really shotty welded tip...plus a footwell neon light kit...which he took the lights but left me all the crap to clean out. but so far this car is incredible..but i was able to get lucky and she came with new heads from the dealership cuz there was an issue with it...long story

Oh congrats! STi's are great! I had my first STi in 2006 and drove it for good 5 years. Very reliable and I drove it like a maniac.

dude. that video almost gave me goosebumps. lol. I'm currently looking at a buddy's 05 STI in WRB. its completely stock with just under 74K miles. just trying to wait for another guy to get the money to buy my car. we took the STI to an autoX event yesterday and it was sick. I'm pretty hooked.

Nice looking car. I'm looking to sell my Audi S4 and get into an 05 STI. I LOVE the black. White is my favorite though would someone mind explaining the difference between the WRB and OBP please? Are they engine codes?

Thanks! I am very excited to have this car in my driveway and to drive it every day. It will be even more exciting once the break-in period is done.

Nice ride, always liked the black. We wound up with an o5' in silver...colour was the wife's decision.

anyhow, if it does have the stock vf39 on there I would highly doubt it's near 400whp or needs the front mount at this level...but...having the front mount already there will be handy for later mods...hint.

Makes me miss driving mine as it sits in the driveway waiting on a built block.

4k seems a bit late for full boost on the vf39, thinking more around 3300, maybe the front mount?

I found out the car was not tuned for the mods it has on it. I did a couple pulls when I got the car + pulls when the seller took me for a test drive. Now I am throwing Cyl 4 missfire, metal shavings in the oil. I think I effed up a brand new block lol so not looking too good. Don't know where to start now. Going to have my tuner put a break-in tune and check it out and see what he thinks. I will probably change out the spark plugs just for the heck of it to see if it helps.

Was not speeding. I had a ton of tireshine on the tires and entering the turn made me slide, tried to correct it and went into the wall. A lot of people said alignment was bad and thread was low on the tires. But yeah no more tireshine for me

I think I remember that thread, or another with a blobeye and tires shine. Anyways glad it worked out, and good luck with this one.

With the vf39, front mount and 400hp I was wondering how knowledgeable the previous owner was. It's so easy to screw up these cars if you don't have a good idea of what your doing or a competent shop to help.

Sorry about the bad luck but 4 is usually the first to go, look closely at the plugs when you change them, pull them anyway even if you don't change them, they can tell you quiet a bit. Compression test if you can, a compression tester can be had for relatively cheap at the local autozoo. Lots of shineys in the oil would make me think bearing instead of piston though.

Anyway, good luck, I got lucky once and found a cracked porcelain on a spark plug.
