Default 2005 wrx 4EAT issues

I just recently finished reassembly on my wrx after installing a td05 20g, and some supporting mods. I didnt touch the transmission at any time during the install and when I fired the car for the first time my transmission developed the following two issues:

1. the A/T oil light flashes non stop, fluid is full and does not smell burnt at all.
2. It will shift 1st, 2nd, then neutral drop 3rd and 4th while in drive unless I let off right before it goes into gear.

The car hasnt been re tuned yet, nor have I driven it more than 10 miles. The only time I drove it was to get it back to my house from my friends shop, never going over 40mph.

Has anybody encountered this before or have any ideas where to start trouble shooting?

-Brian

I have not encountered it before, but driving a car with a 20G without a tune is not wise. I know the standard "keep it out of boost" that people go by, but driving with out a tune cannot help. I would suggest you get at least a base tune from a tuner to get to the tuner and see what happens with the trans. As far as how it effected the transmission well that is weird. Its tough for them to tune the car if the tranny is not working.

Search for tranny codes. There is a way to read the codes from the flashing light and it might give you more information about what might be wrong. Could be something electrical, you never know.

Oh I know how bad it is to drive it untuned. I do have a cobb ap with a tune by ecs performance for a vf43 and 565cc injectors. Thats the only reason I drove it home.

Im going to check all the fuses related to the trans. or drivtrain and see where that gets me before I ship it off to a shop who can easily diagnose.

You should get the TCU read first. You need a Vag-Com Cable and you can use the Free-SSM software to check for the codes.

If I had to guess what the issue would be, I would say maybe the TPS or Speed Sensor. However that is just speculation without reading the codes.

Does your cable have the prong style or USB style for the computer end?
