Default Anyone ever get disappointed by the impreza later on?

While I love my car and wouldn't trade/sell and will probably have it until it dies. I must say, I was looking at pictures of the standard Legacy's interior and it is a xmillion better than the Impreza's. Obviously because the Legacy is the Luxury line of Subaru, BUT I couldn't help but feel kind of disappointed.

In my opinion the Impreza has a better exterior but that Legacy interior was interchangeable with no mods needed, I'd so be on that. The 2 things I'd only really swap out are the door panels and the dials. And maybe the seats...definitely the seats.....going to look into the seats.....yeah the seats...

To sum up the discussions question, Has your Impreza ever disappointed you (if not initially) then down the road somewhere?

No offence but it’s a baseline car....... it’s not supposed to have luxuries. It’s meant to be cheap to buy. good thing about it is there are plenty of used WRX and STi parts you can put on it.

No, I understand what the car is and where it stands. And the only flaws in my opinion are what I previously mentioned. But even the wrx and sti's interiors are lesser than what the legacy.

And I don't really want to replace anything, I humored the thought of doing so but It's not a big enough problem to start a project.

And also understand that with the price difference between these two models, you could take that money and possibly have the car modded to it is on the same aesthetic par but on a more custom level.

I don't want this to sound like "what do you hate about imprezas" thread, it's a simple "things that sort of bother you" and I would expect answers like ; " I didn't like the dash trim color so i painted it [insert color here]"

I agree with you on the seats but I would only mod them after I destroyed them:
my list so far is custom cloth or fabric colors would be black and ice grey with red stiching
vinyl same color swath
leather if I had to same color swath.

Apart from that give me a good sound system a pair of shades and I am all set. Road noise or any such subjective things are kinda irrelevant to me, I prefer my car to be noisy and never had a car that didn't have creaks, squeaks, rattles, etc. I feel very disconnected when I drive a vehicle that is luxurious, hard for me to gauge the car. I have always loved my beaters far more that the cream of the crop cars plus when you mess up those luxury cars that really gets you mad as hell.

just my 2 cents

ps: prob not leather seats, i hate cleaning leather

As stated above the Impreza is an entry level vehicle for Subaru. It wasn't meant to have features that would make you consider it over the Legacy other than better fuel economy. Honestly, the interior aside from being smaller (IMO) is nearly as nice as the interior of a Legacy with fabric from the same time period. That would be the 2000-2004 Legacy model, I think the same goes for Imprezas and Legacy models since this time. Although the GD Impreza may have come two years later, it was designed to fall into a slightly aging family of vehicles as the Forester and Legacy based vehicles were at mid life or older by this time.

I guess if you have a dealer optioned Impreza with leather or an STi Limited, the interior gets even nicer and again closes the gap between it and the Legacy interior other than size. The Impreza interior was also better than vehicles it competed with from the same time period. Your Impreza may be a 2007, but you have to realize the design dates back to 2002 and is now almost 12 years old. My 2003 Sentra SE-R Spec V had an interior that looked nice but everything was made of cheap hard plastics, although manufacturers using premium plastics will say its not cheap...premium just means it doesn't look as cheap as other plastic dashes and has nicer textures.

Many brands switched to the premium plastic dashes including Subaru, but they are recently going back to soft touch dashes like the ones in our cars I believe...a lot of these new interiors look nice on newer cars but I feel like you're getting less because of the materials they are made out of...again they only look nice and up to date now that dash designs are more complex/artistic and visually engaging.

If you want to do something...upgrading to 2004+ WRX seats might make things a little better for you but honestly I think you'd be best off saving your money. It isn't going to make it a new car and the only way you will greatly benefit from the seats is if you are regularly doing some spirited driving as they are slightly more snug than the standard Impreza seats, other than that they just look different and that to me isn't enough to truly go out and spend a few hundred bucks and that's if you're lucky enough to find a set worth buying for that price. Anyway GL.

Only disappointed by the headgaskets inability to stay in the engine. Other than that, I like the car well enough for what it is.

I was never disappointed with any of my impreza's. I have had a 2005 2.5 RS with sport package (basically a wrx interior, moonroof and wrx wing) and a 2005 WRX (which I currently own) and a 2009 STI (which I currently own).

The only thing I was disappointed with is the crappy paint on the 2005 RS. The paint holds up much better on the wrx and STI.

This. Along with the exhaust valve guides. Had one drop in my 4th cylinder 10 hours away from home. Almost $3k in repairs/shipping costs later...

Needless to say, when I'm done with school next month and can find a good job (hopefully), I may be looking for a new car.

I think I'll be moving onto a RAV4 with a V6. Doesn't handle as well as the Impreza, but dang, it's pretty quick!

Given what I use the car for, I couldn't be happier. More room than a sedan, AWD, WRX/STi parts "lego" on to it for cheap upgrades, gobs of torque, and cheap.

Granted, if I felt like stomaching a car payment, I would totally jump on a Legacy Spec B.

My Impreza 2.5i isn't the definition of fun either. Again, if it wasn't for questionable build quality with the Impreza, I'd keep it for much longer. I just don't trust Subaru's anymore.

I wouldn't exactly say a RAV4 V6 is boring, it can move. I like my GFs RAV4 and its a four banger. You can't compare them to performance vehicles. I will probably pick up an SUV next but I like my Impreza so much it'll probably be a Forester.

Sometimes I wish I bought a base luxury (A4) car for the price I paid for my WRX Limited. Other times I can't think of a car that better suits my needs/wants..Just depends on my mood I guess.

I personally dislike all the electronic doodads and gizmos in cars these days, so for me, the simple interior of the WRX/STi is a huge plus and was actually a selling point.

I traded my 06 WRX in on a 2011 Charger R/T .. because in my head, I thought that new fancy interior was going to be great .. and 8 months later I traded it in for another WRX.

I found I hated heated seats and steering wheels, the EVIC display was annoying, and the climate control would not even allow me to simply open the vents to let outside air in.

Now I know that I want less tech in cars. Maybe I'm a control freak .. I dunno.

+1 maybe its because I am getting old but I like my car simple, preface this by saying I am a senoir unix admin I deal with tech for a living, there is nothing better than something thats does what its suppose to do with as little effort as possible. We usually call it KISS: keep it simple stupid

Whenever you complicate a simple task that makes me go bat**** crazy, I fell in love with the subie because it was just so stupidly simple and easy the interior is everything I need minus a few odds and ends which I have already added. mechanically its also pretty stupidly simple as well. I don't need 50billion computers yacking at me about nonsense, I want a car I can step on, hear the engine, feel the road, enjoy wind blowing over it and all the other ridiculous things that make me enjoy driving. I LOVE road trips, I have never used my car to commute to work all the mileage I have on all the cars I have owned have been driving for hours on the open road with the radio cranked best is spring to early summer windows down cool breeze some johnny cash or whatever blasting over the speakers and driving down some picturesque mountain roads. Maybe that makes me a dreamer but who cares. K end rant

I bought my first Subaru as a compromise. I needed something with four doors that I could use year-round that wouldn't be effected by a future kid. My only meh issue are the seats. The Bugeye seats are by far muuuuuuch more comfortable that STi seats, but they just don't look that great.

I have a 2012 Impreza ,premium model with cvt. I'm happy with the car. I would like it to be quieter inside though.Subaru should put more sound deadener in it.

This makes me feel very uneasy. :S

The only way I'd swap the seating is if I saw it for cheap on ebay or something. I found a legacy back when I bought my car for the same price and same miles (40k), I didn't care then but now I'm kinda like "what if". Perhaps I'll make it my next car whenever my Impreza is no longer worth keeping. Hopefully by then this bubble-car thing is done with and cars go back to the slim&sleek look.

just a fyi. I personally would look into what has been recalled on vehicles before deciding on purchases.
