new to the site and new to these cars buying a used turbo but was told it has a wastegate crake? how can that be fixed

It's a CRACK. Don't worry about it, it won't affect your life. When it does, you will know it and can replace the turbo. Will it? Not likely.

You can have it fixed, but it cost more than a used turbo with no crack

Don't have it fixed, there is no downside to a wastegate crack other than aesthetics.
