Default high speed/rpm lockout in 3rd

so i have about 800 miles on my brand new 07 sti trans and clutchmasters fx400 6 puck and today i had an issue shifting into 3rd twice. first time i obviously didnt expect it and revved it real good thinking i was back on the throttle. second time i was testing it and it in fact did lock me out, not a missed shift.

what causes this? just the clutch or fluid or it all being new?

didnt notice this until today. i did my first race launch on a very humid night the other night with no issues.

do you have a lot of slop in the shifter? On cars with a good bit we've seen things get stuck between 3 and 5 as you overshoot the slot for 3.

turbolag I have the same problem sometimes on my 06 STI...It's been really scary because I've been on the road with traffic behind me and almost been rear ended. I've found that it helps sometimes to kinda ease it into third and let the clutch out a little slower than the other gears. Like you said though it only happens every know and then

What was your previous clutch? Is the current disc a sprung unit?

Sprung 6 pucks are usually heavier. It'll have the gear lockout effect and wear out the synchros at a quicker rate.

We had this incident once at the drag strip after we installed a sprung 6 puck disc onto a WRX of ours. We where running a PPG Trans on a 18G & E85. We ended up dropping the tranny and took off the clutch setup and reinstalled everything. It went away so it made me wonder if the pressure plate wasn't flush with the flywheel. After a few runs i was able to get us into the high 11's trapping at 118mph.
