Default Any iPhone bluetooth issues?

About to pull the trigger on an iPhone 4, 4s or 5, and am curious if there are any compatibility issues between the non-navigation stereo in my '12 and these iPhones, using the bluetooth connection to make/receive phone calls. Not really concerned with any of the music playing issues that have popped up, as my intent is to continue using my iPod for music. Did a quick search and didn't see anything else on the topic that couldn't be fixed by a quick read of the manual. Thanks in advance.

Once paired, the phone works great; however, the iPhone will be playing music in the background and discharging your battery because of the hooky way the Bluetooth audio connection works. You may not even realize that the iPhone is on. This was covered in one of the older threads.

Edit: Problem is not limited to the iPhone.

Is this issue common to all iPhones, or just to some of them? Saw the older thread dealing with this, but obviously it was before the iPhone 5 came out. Music issue is not an issue for me, but the discharging battery is...

Worked fine with my iPhone 4S. When I upgraded to the 5, it's having trouble syncing with the phone on start. I have to manually "select audio device" to pair it.

Wish one of the steering buttons would trigger Siri, but does not.

Also, I find the handsfree to be virtually useless at 30+mph. No one can ever understand me when there's road noise.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I too had a couple instances where my music would play over the speaker phone after my car is turned off. So right now I have media audio unchecked, which basically stops my phone from playing music via Bluetooth while I'm driving, which would stop the battery drain.

Checking in with the iPhone 5. I also have the non-nav stereo, No Bluetooth issues. Had to delete the old one from the car memory & re-pair using voice commands. When I paired with te menu buttons it didn't re-pair every time I got in the car. But pairing by the voice commands fixed that somehow.

This a bit off topic, have you set up your HU to display names instead of phone numbers for incoming and outgoing calls?

What up pkl... I also have a S3 & 2012 STI Limited/nav. I have changed the names and everything seems to have taken, but I have been having... connection issues. Phone will connect then disconnect as it pleases! Are you having the same issues? If not, you know the fix?

No issues with the iPhone 5 and the non-nav head unit. Works great. Pairs automatically within seconds of starting the car, and music sounds great playing over bluetooth.

The one issue that I have is that I need to "connect" my iPhone to the car each time I get in. If I pair with just the radio prior to starting the car, then I need to do the process again when I start the engine.

Have to do the whole iPhone setup: settings-- general--bluetooth--on--CAR M_MEDIA connect. Also need to make sure Impreza radio is on and set to bluetooth option.

Try deleting that & pairing it through the voice commands. That worked for me to fix the same problem.

Awesome. Thanks SleepNMnky. I will have to give that a try.

No issues with my iPhone 4, but haven't used it too much yet.
Wish there was an easier way to sync phone numbers though.

I have had my Impreza since the middle of June and I have had no problems easy dodger when it comes to the Bluetooth with my 4s. I have the Satellite Navigation system so everything that comes with that has worked awesome for me.

Just a follow up, did it the way you recommended and haven't had that issue since. Thanks again.

Glad it worked for you too. Makes no sense at all to me, but it works.

Not to hijack, but has anybody else had issues getting the iphone5 working via the USB to lightning cable? Mine works fine via Bluetooth, but although it sees it when plugged in to the USB, it doesn't play nice. It will start to play and then stop almost instantly, and the menu controls won't surf through the file structure either.

Just curious.

Once paired with Bluetooth my iPhone no longer works with the USB period. That's how it was with my iPhone 4. So I have a separate iPod connected to USB & don't use it for my iPhone.

Ended up going with an iPhone 5. Quite the easy setup, just deleted the old phone as others noted, then used the voice commands to set it up. No issues so far with the bluetooth connection. Thanks to everyone for the advice and comments.
